Here we go! Welcome to Into the MarioVerse, a Kingmaker!

One day in the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario was out for his daily walk waiting for someone to kidnap the Princess. While walking, Mario found a strange mushroom. Upon eating the mushroom (as eating random mushrooms is completely safe), Mario passed out!

Waking up, Mario found himself in a strange world... a world where characters from all the different Mario games have come together in this strange kingdom, the Multiverse Kingdom. In this Kingdom, the King is selected each day to carry out political affairs. So any resident can be King some day!

Multiverse Kingdom is a beautiful land, but upon arriving, Mario senses trouble is about to begin...

Town: Wins by eliminating all mafia

Vanilla townies have no special abilities. They only have their voice

Each Night, the Kingmaker will select a main and a backup choice for King for the next day. Should the main choice die that Night, the backup will serve as King. No player can be chosen two days in a row until three players remain. The kingmaker cannot chose themselves as king.
-If the Kingmaker is killed, a random vanilla townie will be selected to be the new kingmaker
-No one can claim to be selecting the king for the next phase. But claiming to be KM is allowed.
-A KM is essentially a vanilla townie

If the King tries to execute the hero, the King will die instead. If this happens, the Hero can no longer become king but will gain a one-time vig shot, able to kill a target at night

Each night, the doctor can select a target to protect, saving them from death.
- The doctor cannot protect themself or the same target twice in a row
- No one will be notified if the target was saved

Each night, the watcher can select a target to watch, seeing anyone who visits the target but not what they did
- The result will either come as "You saw no one visit TARGET" or "You saw PLAYER(s) visiting TARGET"
- If roleblocked, the result will be "You were not able to watch TARGET tonight"
- Protections, roleblocks, and kills can be detected by the watcher. Kingmaker selections do not count as visits
- Watcher cannot watch themself

Mafia: Wins by either equaling or outnumbering the remaining town, or kills all VTs and Kingmaker
-KP is set at 1

Each night, the RB can select a target to block, preventing them from performing their night action
- All actions but kingmaker selection may be blocked
- RB cannot target the same person twice in a row

If the roleblocker is killed, the backup will inherit their powers and become the new roleblocker

The goon has no special abilities besides being able to communicate with their mafia partners

Game Setup
Outside of Thread Communication
You are not allowed to PM other users about the game.

Day/Night Cycle
Days will be 48 hours long, with nights at 24 hours. Day/Night cycles will end at 7PM EST, and results will be posted in a hour at 7-8PM EST (An hour at most to prepare). The thread will be locked for all of Night. Day/Night cycles may be sped up later to follow the flow of the game.

Replacements
This game will use replacements until after day 3. Any rule-breakers/inactives will be modkilled afterwards

Wisdom of the Crowd
WotC will be used in this game. Anyone participating in the game (Players/Observers/Replacements) will be able to vote on a change in the game. Changes range from changing phase lengths, cycle start/end times, and preventing a member from participating in the game. WotC votes will only be considered via PM. If enough votes are cast, the change will be made.

This is an open-setup. All roles in the game will be available to the public once the game begins. Rolenames are unique and will not be revealed until death/endgame.

General Mafia Rules
Cheating includes (but is not limited to):
1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information.
2. Ruining the game by doing something like handing out your mafia's member list to the town.
3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Comparing role PM timings to try and work out roles.
5. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host without permission.
6. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip.
7. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts.
8. Offering favours/items/bells outside of the game for a ingame information.
9. Sharing accounts with other players.
10. Breadcrumbing the specific phrasing of your role PM. Do not compare the phrasing in your role PM to prove your alignment. You can claim the abilities you have, but you can't use the specific phrasing of your role PM.
11. Posting a false PM phrased as if you received it from the host. You can still fake roleclaim, but you cannot make it look like you are posting a PM you received from the host.

YOU MAY ONLY COPY AND PASTE TEXT FOR USE AS EVIDENCE. POSTING SCREENSHOTS OR ANY OTHER NON-TEXT EVIDENCE IS CONSIDERED CHEATING. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS EVIDENCE THAT IS PUBLICLY AVAILABLE FOR ALL PLAYERS TO CHECK (eg. post counts in a thread). IT IS BEST IF YOU CHECK WITH ME FIRST.

Mod Font:
This is the mod color. It is reserved for the host. Please do not use it.

Question Font:
This is the question color. Use it to ask the host questions about the rules in public. You can also PM me.

Spam:
Strategic spam is acceptable, within reason.

Activity: You must contribute one substantial post at least once two day phases. This means that if you only make one post, it needs to be more substantial than simply saying "I agree" or "RIP". If you post multiple times, this rule may may be less strict. There may be exceptions to this if day/night phases progress rapidly at any stage in the game. Please be on your best behavior during this game to avoid being banned.

Editing:
Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled.

Inappropriate posts:
Mafia games can get heated and emotional. Please keep it civil and remember that what happens in Mafia stays in Mafia.

Observers' Chat:
While dead players will be keen to give valuable "insight" into the game, please refrain from revealing game-changing information (eg. the identities of your fellow Mafia).

Play to win.
You should try your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game.

Voting

This game uses King's Execution. For each day, a player will be selected by the kingmaker to be king. Only the king decides the lynch. The execution can be made by posting ##Execute: Player. At least 24 hours must pass before the king can pass their judgement. The king has up to 48 hours to decide, but should they end early, the remaining time will be added to the night phase. A "voting" thread will be created for this game, but votes will have no impact on the lynch. This thread will serve as a place for the other players to fake vote, and share their insight. If the King fails to execute someone, they will die instead.

Be warned - Mafia requires a time commitment. This generally depends on the player, but at minimum, 30 minutes a day of solid effort is required. As part of the time commitment, Mafia requires a great deal of reading. Most people are actually quite poor at reading comprehension and playing Mafia is a great way to improve your reading ability, as well as your writing and ability to think and argue logically. In addition, Mafia is not for the faint-hearted or overly emotional. While not occurring every game, sometimes people can get into very heated arguments with one another. People can get very emotional playing Mafia, as it is a high-intensity endeavor. That being said, playing Mafia is an excellent way to develop thick skin, improve your patience, and make yourself a stronger person mentally.

Welcome to TBT Mafia. Mafia is a game of the informed minority versus the uninformed majority. To elaborate, the game is divided into two teams: the Town and the Mafia. Mafia know who each other are, and can coordinate their actions privately. Town on the other hand don't know anything other than their own role. To compensate, there are many more Townies than Mafia.

At the beginning of the game, you are PM'd your role. The game is divided into repeating phases of Day and Night. Day will generally last 48 hours and revolve around voting for a player to be lynched. Each player (including Mafia) get one vote, and players must figure out who the Mafia are, and convince others that they are correct. At the end of the day, the person with the most votes is lynched, and their alignment and role are revealed.

Night is typically 24 hours long and is reserved for Mafia night kills and players with special abilities. Usually, players discuss the results of the lynch at night, and make plans for the next day. When night ends, everyone will be informed of who died during the night. The new day will begin, and discussions for the lynch begin anew.

Mafia is a game of logic, intuition, persuasiveness, reading ability, emotion, and will. In short, its a thinking man's game. There are many different ways to approach the game and every game is a very different experience. In addition, Mafia is not for the faint-hearted or overly emotional. While not occurring every game, sometimes people can get into very heated arguments with one another. People can get very emotional playing Mafia, as it is a high-intensity endeavour. That being said, playing Mafia is an excellent to develop thick skin, improve your patience, and make yourself a stronger person mentally.

Thank you previous hosts for the rules.

As long as ya'll understand 7pm is the worst EoD time for me ever and I'd probably end the day at around noon as a king.

im kinda tentative on EoD it depends on the player list we have

I just prefer slightly later if anything. But with kingmaker it's either myself or another player making the decision so EoD isn't -too- important, it's just that I hope it won't be a point against making me a king that I'd have to end the day about 7 hours earlier.

Optimistic to get 15 players by this weekend, so a Monday/Tuesday start!

Also, I added the roles I'm thinking for a 15 player game. Lmk what people think
