So I've got a concert on the 14th, in less than a week... so I'm playing guitar, practicing... and I see that one of my nails is beginning to break. Crap. Before you call me queer or anything, guitarists typically play with nails because it makes the sound a helluva lot better. That's what makes the sound of a pick different from regular fingerpicking... at least for people with short nails.

But yeah. It's not as though I can't play without nails, but the sound suffers immensely. The nail isn't QUITE broken just yet, so I'm hoping it'll, err... hold on until after the concert. It's not broken, even... but... sort of bent. Weird, really, but it happens.

Ah well. Here's hoping it holds on.

Paganini was a violinist, and the story I'm referring to was when Paganini was performing in a concert, and some of the listeners (these were people who hated him) shot his strings down, leaving only one... the G-string. And Paganini was able to finish the piece on only one string.

That's sort of a myth, though, I don't know how true it is.

Well worst case scenario would be you using a pick cause your nail broke.

So bring a pick just in case.
