It wouldn't, no. You would need all of the software files for the update downloaded. Typically, the software files are either a) downloaded at the time the content is officially released, or b) the software files can be partially downloaded prior to release, but at the official release there is a much smaller update that needs to be downloaded to unlock the content.
I thought about it, but after all the hard work I put into my 3rd island (yes, I have made a 3rd one, thanks to the Switch 2, while I still have my Original Switch and Switch Lite), I don't see myself doing it. Those slumber islands that they announced in the Dream Suite I will take advantage of because sometimes I want to try out new items while at the same thing not losing all of my progress. I remember how, back in the day, it took me hours and weeks to carry over all of my progress to my other island so that I could restart the process on my old island. It was a long and tedious thing, and eventually I got tired of it. The only feature that may convince me to do a proper restart is if they bring back the feature where, if you can sell your island to Tom Nook, he can give all the bells back to pay off your loan quicker when you start over. That was a thing in New Leaf Welcome Amiibo. Anyways, I do like the idea that they are letting you do what you want on the slumber islands (would've been nice if this was a thing since day one, but I digress)
Not to mention you can invite your friends (which I have no one by myself, so I'll have to ask myself and other self to design the island) to help you create your island, which I can imagine is going to be pretty chaotic, like if you wanted to go for a theme you wish to. Still, your friends decided they wanted something that you didn't ask for. That will be both chaotic and interesting to see how it works out.
Why is that a bad thing?
It’s not that experimenting for the next game is bad, I actually think it’s smart. What threw me off is that back in 2021, Nintendo outright said 2.0 was the final update. So, when they suddenly started adding new features again years later, it made me feel like we had been misled for a really long time. I’m trying to process that shift, that’s what I was talking about.
It would be nice if it was a day like every other game or a weekend. It made playing a pain during that week.
Maybe this new update will do what WA did and let you sell back your island for a sizeable sum by Nook and then carry over everything like it did in NL. I think it carried over the catalogue and other stuff right?
