So everything from Google AI to Polygon is saying to unlock the new version of Cece, that the Splatoon Callie amiibo figure will work. So are my Joy-Cons just defective? Or is that actually false information? For the past 20 minutes I've been placing the NFC reader of the amiibo figure against the right Joy-Con of my Switch 2 and it keeps timing out and saying "Failure to read amiibo. Would you like to try again?"
For background purposes this is a brand new pair of Joy-Cons, because I upgraded the color scheme yesterday. Additionally, my system's firmware is up to date and I'm using the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game. And yes, I did check, the game version is up to date as well. Yet, an amiibo figure that's supposed to grant an unlock is not working at all.
Is anyone else having this problem of the non-Shiver/non-Frye amiibo that the internet claims to be compatible for New Horizons' 3.0 unlocks and unable to scan the villagers they want? Because I can clarify that four years ago this wasn't a problem when my ex-fiancee's friend lent me a couple amiibo cards she owned of villagers I wanted to invite to my campsite and move in. The cards read just fine...on a Switch Lite, no less.
That's why I suspect that claiming certain non-Shiver/non-Frye amiibos is false information, but I wanted to check with the community first to find out if anyone else is having problems and, if they are having the same problems what the fixes were. Anyway, I'll check back in a bit. Got some stuff to take care of.
