Will you be picking up a Nintendo Switch 2 to play ACNH - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?

I was watching Kit & Krysta’s latest video, and they were talking about today’s announcement of Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.

They mentioned how Nintendo seems to be using this 3.0 Update and the reasonably priced Switch 2 Edition as a way to encourage players to finally move from the original Switch to the new system.

What do you think — does this make you more likely to pick up a Switch 2? Or is it not enough to convince you yet?

No, not at all. I’m so glad that there’s a free update. The switch 2 edition stuff is minimal and I don’t feel like I’d be missing out at all if I hold off on getting a switch 2. I think if anything, it probably means it’ll be longer before I do get one. Because I expect the next animal crossing won’t be for a while now.

I'm picking up a Switch 2 for other reasons but I am excited to at least play with the Switch 2 edition since it reduces so much of the lag and item pop-in. However, if those other reasons didn't exist I most likely wouldn't get a Switch 2 JUST for that.

No. I'll probably buy a Switch 2 eventually, but it won't be for AC specifically.

Though when I do get a Switch 2, I'll buy the upgrade for it so it looks and runs nicer.

Short answer; no.

Mostly because I just barely purchased a (used) Switch only several months ago (wow, just August 5...), and a newer console would be pricier. Plus as others have mentioned, the Switch2 updates seem to be minimal compared to the overall expansion, so it seems.

Like I don't believe more than a third of the video was about the Switch 2 update.

Will say I don't really want to get "left behind" too much though... if this is the last update before they release a new game 2 years later (seems like most games have been spaced apart by about 7 years more or less), I'd maybe consider a Switch 2 at that point and purchasing the new game.

nope! i'd consider upgrading it if i did ever get a switch 2, but it's not the kind of thing that would motivate me to get one. i feel like the switch 2 version is more for people who already own the switch 2.

i mean, maybe it'd be worth getting a new console if you're, like, a streamer or something. but i'm not. so 4k graphics and mouse controls aren't that important to me. (still cool though!)

I was waiting on the next AC game to get an NS2, so actually, the update makes it less likely I'll get one in the near future - I mainly want an AC-themed one if they release it, but I honestly didn't love NH enough to get a new console themed after an old game, even if the game is getting updates.

Nope. My switch and switch lite both are still new so I still plan on waiting. I think maybe down the road I may but not for the extra acnh things that are switch 2 exclusive. If I get it, it’ll be for other games that are available to play. There aren’t any right now that I’m interested in anyways.

No. I was never worried about the megaphone missing; I barely used it back NL. It was usually crammed away in my storage there. lol
But it's nice for the folks who were looking for it.

I will only get one once there's something I really want to play on it. Even though that Pokemon life-sim game looks cute, it's not enough for me to get one at this moment.

I caved in for the NS2 for different reasons, I'm not even that interested in the new 2 updates. A better vanilla experience is already great.

I got my switch 2 recently but it wasn’t because of animal crossing. My mom and brother surprised me with a preorder for the switch 2 Pokemon ZA bundle. I wasn’t sure if I was going to have an island on my switch two. I like having my two islands on my 2 switch lites. With the update I think I will actually start a new island on the switch 2. Thankfully the upgrade fee is only 5 dollars. I was worried it would be more.

I suppose my answer is no because I already have a Switch 2 for other reasons. If I only played AC then no I probably wouldn’t get the whole new console just for that.

I’ve played AC on both consoles as my Switch 2 has my main island and my old Switch has my secondary (which I transferred from my partner’s Switch as he doesn’t play AC) in general the game still plays fine on the old Switch. Yes it is better on the Switch 2 already and should be even better with the upgrade pack in the future, but I find the Switch 1 is still ok. Mind you I fully decorate my island but not to the extent I’ve seen some that are crammed full. Those islands do not run well on the Switch 1 but do on Switch 2 even pre upgrade pack, so it might be worth it to you if you have one of those jam packed islands that has the pop in issue.
