Announcement: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition & Free Update

I just want to ask if this update will also be for the Switch Lite for sure. If so, I need to see about a new battery. It never seemed to hold much of a charge, to begin with, but needs plugged in most of the time now to play. I have not played for a while now, but this makes me want to see about the battery to enjoy it all over again.

It’s not everyday that a corporation such as Nintendo wakes up and says, “Yeah! Let’s update a 5 and a half year old game for free!” Especially seeing as in 2021 they announced the “final free update.”

I do like this idea of the update, and seeing as it is free, I think is really cool. Granted, I’m not excited for it; I probably won’t even play it. It’s just New Leaf Happy Home Designer but nicer and you actually “get stuff” for doing it.

I also think that this could be an attempt at estimating interest in the Animal Crossing franchise as a whole right now, or maybe even a platform for testing code and features for a potential new game in the series.

I’m so excited! Been needing a reason to get back into NH . I was worried about the furniture and villagers being switch 2 only since I don’t have plans getting one anytime soon since my switch and switch lite are both still new. Relieved that I’m not going to miss out on much from what I can tell.

I’m worried about the new villagers and collaboration being amiibo only since after the pokemon distribution code diaster and considering the problems with amiibo shortages last time, I can already see it happening again and scalping being a problem. Or if the items are obtainable from only old amiibos that I never got.

That's so amazing!!! And so unexpected! I screamed just a little during the second part of the trailer
There are some things that I don't care about that much while others are sooo cool. Overall I'm very excited

Wow, what an incredible update. The slumber islands look awesome, and being able to play some old games and decorate with the game systems are pretty cool. The hotel is quite fun too. Also the items from Zelda and Splatoon are really fun, can't wait to play again for a while.

The Version 3.0 Free Update will be for all Switch consoles, including Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch 2.

switch lite is essentially the same as the switch 1, so yes

the only thing you would not be able to use are switch 2 exclusive features and anything that requires the system to be docked (of which nothing seems to be shown, afaik)

Seriously; If they can bring in Tulin & Mineru from Tears of The Kingdom; why not bring the OG Zelda Villagers back too; aka Wolf Link & Epona?!

What Will Tulin's Personality Be in ACNH V3.0[will He be Lazy, Jock, Cranky or Smug]; and what will Mineru's Personality be[Will She be Normal, Peppy, Snooty, or Big Sister]

There's Just two things that are Bothering me. . .

Which Zelda-series Amiibo will be used to bring in Mineru; and which one will be used to bring Tulin into Animal crossing?!

Last I Checked; there WASN'T a Mineru Amiibo; OR A Tulin Amiibo

I really hope they're brought back! Since next year's the 20th anniversary for Twilight Princess coming out, there's a lot of hope that they'll port the HD version onto the Switch 2, so I feel like that could be a decent justification for bringing them back?

There is a Tulin amiibo but the Mineru Construct amiibo has only been announced, there's no official release date or anything for it yet. However, the update is coming out in January so I assume it should be released before then?

What an exciting surprise! SO happy Nintendo decided to include Switch in this generous content update, I would've paid for some of these things. I don't have a Switch 2 yet, but it doesn't seem like a big deal to miss out on those extra features. Most importantly, this includes some stuff I've been wanting. Echoing everyone else here, but, bulk crafting, finally! Give me all the Splatoon and Zelda stuff. At least one of those new villagers is living on my island. Not to mention the consoles, and I wonder what other new furniture will be added. Glad to hear Kappn's family is doing well, it looks like helping them out will be fun. I wonder what else might be included? Didn't see it mentioned but I hope there will be some performance update for Switch since my crowded island tends to lag, even if not I'll enjoy it all the same.

Yay, I'm excited! I love how the Lego furniture is a nice reference to the Lego Animal Crossing sets!

I don't have a Nintendo Switch 2, but I am wondering how well the megaphone works, it constantly used to mishear a lot in New Leaf.

I have a Nintendo Online membership, I am looking forward to those 3 new customizable islands from Luna.

I am also looking forward to that hotel and designing the rooms, it's kind of like taking Happy Home Paradise home with you in-game. I'd also love being able to own the hotel merchandise! It's like having the Happy Home Paradise merchandise all over again.

I love that we're getting the retro games and actually being able to play them, it has not been a thing since Doubutsu no Mori and Population Growing!

Having new villagers is awesome! It is quite interesting how they changed Cece and Viché's designs. I won't be having any of them living on my island anytime soon, I'm too attached to my villagers.

I'm glad we're getting a storage update, considering the hotel and Splatoon, Lego and The Legend of Zelda merchandise we're getting.

I love it so far!!! I hope theres a lot more new furniture!! I bet those new Zelda villagers are gonna be uber popular!! I can't wait to do the hotel stuff!! I wish the megaphone was on the normal switch version but alas!!! BULK CRAFTING!!!

I hope this means there will be more updates in the future?!?!!!! I dont care if i have to pay for DLC nintendo!!! Give me more furniture!!!!!!!!
