I cannot believe what I am seeing. I mean, 4 years ago, they said that the game was done and there were not going to be any more updates in the future. I was so convinced that the game was done, and then Nintendo pulled the rug out from under me and said, "SIKE! WE ACTUALLY HAVE A NEW UPDATE!" and it was all part of their plan to reveal it when the Switch 2 was out.
In all seriousness, I am thrilled and also very curious about this update. First of all, BULK CRAFTING IS IN THE GAME FINALLY!!!!! OH MY GOD I WANTED IT FOR SO LONG!!!! Then they added the megaphone from New Leaf, now I will be able to call out to my villagers instead of wandering around the island. Finally, that hotel on the Dock is very well-kept.
Now, something that I find interesting. It seems like the Hotel Paradise is like Happy Home Paradise 2.0, but it's on your island instead of the Resort. So I am not sure if Happy Home Paradise will get any changes or if it will remain the same. It did show that you can create "themed homes," which is nothing new, as we saw this before in Happy Home Paradise, so I am unsure how different this would be. It will be interesting to see how this works.
Additionally, there is the "Slumber Party Dream" feature they've added, where you can decorate to your heart's content. You can also invite your friends to decorate and terraform together, which is truly mind-blowing. Part of me is glad that this is a thing, but at the same time, I wish you could do it for real —that is, not in a game. For instance, if someone wanted to have their island redecorated but needed help doing it, that would've been cool.
Finally, my concerns. I didn't see any Online Mini Games to play with your friends. Maybe they are saving that as a surprise, and they didn't want to reveal too much of the 3.0 update. Additionally, I didn't notice any quality of life updates for your villagers. I was hoping they would add new features, such as being able to make more requests for them if they have favors, and playing mini-games with them. Also with all this decorating I was hoping they would let us expand our Room Sizes in our homes just like in New Leaf I mean with all this decorating and new Storage you would think they would show that off but they didn't. Then, finally, there is still yet another shop upgrade to Nook's Cranny. When they showed off the Megaphone, I thought they would go into detail about getting an upgrade in the shop, but they didn't. Again, I hope they are saving that as a surprise.
Overall, I have a mix of emotions. Part of me is pleased that the game is finally getting updated, but the other part of me is very annoyed because Nintendo misled me into thinking that the game was finished and wouldn't receive any further updates. They proved me and everyone else wrong..I am looking forward to giving this a try.
