is nintendo setting us up for more animal crossing content with this update?

the timing of the update is so out of the blue, i know they also did the welcome amiibo update with ACNL but that was moreso to sell amino cards during nintendo’s amiibo surge.

part of me thinks this was designed to get the attention of the animal crossing community and we might get another dlc, update or even a switch 2 exclusive spin off game in the near future.

Surely there'll be a new game within the next 5 years, but I think this is just part of their launch year for the Switch 2. They put in the work to justify releasing a physical Switch 2 version, I think after this the team will continue focusing on the next title.

I have always thought being version 2.08 something was always an off number for me, and I have always wondered if they would make it a whole number. Maybe they waited for a specific time, this time where people were starved for more Animal Crossing content.
Doesn't mean I don't think we're that close to a new game yet. I never expected it this early for the new switch.
