What is the reason behind choosing the name you did? Is it your real name or something that is special to you?

I picked Roxxy as I have been all variations of Roxy/Roxie in every animal crossing game so when I joined the forum it seemed natural to use it. I don’t use my real name online. Originally I had to be Roxy_10 then I got my seashells for a username change. Very lucky that someone name changed and Roxxy was available. Can’t see myself changing ever as it feels very me 💜

Neb is short for Nebby, which is the canonical nickname of my favorite Pokemon Cosmog. It’s also Ben, my name, backwards, but that’s a coincidence.

I’ve stuck with it as my main online username on a bunch of sites for almost six years and it feels just as valid as my real name now.

I've always been terrible at coming up with usernames for things, i wish child me had been a bit more creative lol. but my name is jess and for whatever reason i always liked the alliteration of it - i've been jellybeansjess on a lot of things, and i apparently decided to shorten that to just jellybeans for here. maybe 11 year old me had a slight inkling of internet safety (despite joining too young)

I've gone by a lot of different names in my life, but I started going by Chris in video games in 2019. Then in 2021 I legally changed my name to Christian. The short form came first. So, it's my name now, but it wasn't when I first started going by it online! I hadn't intended to make it my TBT username, but Oblivia brought it up in conversation and I thought, "hey, that's a good idea!"

My birth name was something stupidly long (14 characters) that no one could spell right because my parents were those people.

I picked Suguri because I wanted people to know that Kieran is my favorite Pokémon character and video game character in general! 💜 For context, Suguri (スグリ) is Kieran's Japanese name, which comes from the Japanese term for a currant/gooseberry (酸塊 suguri).

My username prior to May 2024 was BobRocks20, which was used on other online platforms. I picked that username because it was all I could think of at the time. XD I had to change it later, as it no longer clicked with me in TBT and I didn't want to be confused for a male online anyway.

Giddy first came from a nickname at school, the two people I guess couldn't remember my name so started calling me random things, but out of them all Giddy stuck with me a lot. Not because they chose it or anything, I just liked it.
So, it was the one thing I would call myself in a lot of areas on the internet. Giddy is nowhere near my actual name, but I think it's a grand name~

HMM I WONDER WHERE MY USERNAME CAME FROM

there's a thread just like this from not long ago, and this was my original response:
when I created this account back in October of 2011 I was on my first real Super Mario 64 kick, I played it nonstop for like 3 months lol. it was around that time that it became my all-time favorite game. so ofc when making my account I named it after what my hyperfixation was at the time :3

I think the x___x thing is like a cringe relic of the late 2000s and early 2010s, I can't be bothered changing my username though because in the 10 years I've been here I've never changed it. but I'm highkey proud of kid me for making my username, I still like it a lot because now everyone knows me for being the forum's SM64 junkie :p

I won't lie, I've thought a few times about changing it to something related to Bug, my actual nickname, but I've had this username for so long it's basically a meme at this point haha. figure I may as well keep it. but I do strongly prefer when people refer to me as Bug/Buggy instead of my username, so idk. that's why my user title is the way it is. 💗🪲

I've always gone by Croconaw as an online alias. The longer version is Killer Croconaw, a play on Killer Croc from Suicide Squad.

My first username here was Feraligatr. I'm most surprised I was able to claim both usernames. Not so surprisingly, another user on here claimed Feraligatr after I changed it. They aren't active anymore either.

This happened 10 years ago after I was at a friend's house playing Minecraft on my now old, outdated iPad. I was 13-14 back then, and I had a bad habit of naming worlds some stupid things that truly had no meaning whatsoever, and then abandon that world later on.

Then I created this next world, and for some reason, the made-up word, "rocketspruggs", with the lowercase, "r", had entered my then-teenaged brain. I loved it so much for its seemingly nonsensical and silly sounding name that had absolutely no meaning, it stuck with me ever since.

I chose Alolan_Apples as a celebration of Pokémon Sun/Moon’s release, but with a twist of apples since my usernames usually involve apples. My original username had something apple-related too.

this is such an early-2010s teen experience 😂

If some of you already didn't know...snakes are my favourite animals. Its illegal where I live to have them as pets but I've always admired them from afar. Snek is a cute word for snake so I was surprised when it wasn't taken on here. I doubt I will be changing it anytime soon 🐍

I originally had a different username on here, but I really couldn't think of one at the time and the version I really wanted was already picked so I put some numbers down so it would work and called it a day. Didn't really care for it.

Same thing happened with blue also lol. I spent bells on the username and was like dang I can't use it. Unless I do blue123 or something stupid. Then I realized I could just put some dashes in and called it a day. I'd prefer blue without the dashes, but it works. You all don't have to add the dashes if you ever address me. I'm not very picky lol.

I guess I picked the username blue because it's the army color during the Civil War. I used to participate in reenactments a lot, not so much now, but I still make time for an event every year or so. The color is federal blue. I had that user in one of my first places and over time members started just calling me blue instead. It felt a bit more personal and I liked that. So I carried the username over here.

I've changed my name three times during my time on the forums. I don't want to mention any of my previous names tbh, but my last change was pretty recent! I started getting uncomfortable with my username on the forums being the same as my social medias over a year ago. I originally liked the consistency, but it just didn't feel right to me anymore and wanted to keep that name to my socials only (I'm fine with the art I post having my username and keeping my socials linked, I just don't like the idea of my TBT name being the same anymore). My biggest struggle was deciding what I'd change my name to (and also, name changes are expensive rip).

I finally bought my name change in back in April this year after deciding "Chere" would be fine since it's just the name I go by online pretty much everywhere, but that's when I found out Chere was taken. 😔 I spent the next four months or so trying to create or settle on an alternative. 😂 I honestly couldn't vibe with any of the new names I came up with in the end, and I went with "Chere." even though the period triggers me sometimes since it's the closest thing to my first option, and I think I've just been trying to gaslight myself that the period isn't that bad ksdgkdgkf. I didn't like any alternative with my name that me or my friends came up with so this was the next best thing. 😅

I had no idea what to call myself so I just put random combinations of letters together until they made a sort-of-word. I planned to change it not long after joining but i dont know if / when I will, because I still have no idea what else I’d pick 😂

Pretty sure I made a thread like this, but I'm here for confetti.

Mine is a variation of an oldish username that I made a few years ago, and I use this for Animal Crossing-related sites. I've been thinking of changing my username though, but I haven't come up with anything yet. I'd like to use my IRL name, but it wouldn't be very special if I was just "Charlie" on TBT. ;w; (And it's already taken by another user.)

I got a lame idea.

How about Charlie Black, like Charlie Brown from Peanuts. Get it? Just kidding. I feel like your name is too iconic to change...
