Giddy up, y'all! It’s time to charge forth into the Lunar New Year! 2026 is the Year of the Horse, and we want to see TBT rein in the new year with some serious creativity. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just foaling around, embrace your festive spirit!
🎠How To Participate

Craft a physical decoration to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Your creation should reflect the occasion through color, symbolism, and/or festive design. Feel free to incorporate customary reds and golds, zodiac imagery, or symbols of luck and prosperity!

Both traditional and non-traditional crafts are welcome. Ideas include (but are not limited to): lanterns, chunlian (spring couplets), zhezhi (Chinese paper folding), paper cuttings, and wall or table decorations.

Take a photo of your completed craft alongside a name card for proof, and submit by posting it in this thread no later than Tuesday, 3rd of March, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.

🎠Submission Guidelines

  • Entries must be your own work; no collaborative projects or AI-generated designs.
  • You must check "entry" on your attachment's thumbnail (see this post from a previous event if you're unsure how).
  • A physical name card featuring your TBT username must be clearly visible in your photo.
  • Please do not edit your post after submitting unless a staff member gives you permission to do so.
  • Your entry must be suitable for a PG-13 audience and must not violate our Rules and Guidelines.
  • You may be asked to resubmit if your entry lacks sufficient detail or does not follow event guidelines.

🎠Rewards

  • Participation: 2 Lucky Coins

🎠FAQ

1. Can I craft something digitally, and then assemble it to be a physical decoration?
Hybrid crafts are acceptable so long as the final result is a physical object. Please share in-progress photos of your digital creations so that we know it is your own work.

2. Are there Staff Favorites for this event?
I'm afraid not, sorry!

3. What kind of crafting materials am I allowed to use?
Typical supplies like clay, felt, paper, yarn, markers, paint, etc are all acceptable. You are welcome to use a limited amount of pre-made accents (such as washi tape or stickers) and natural elements (like real flowers or stones) to enhance your work. If you are unsure whether something you want to use would be acceptable, please ask!

A Note on Pre-made & Natural Items: The goal is to craft a decoration, thus, your own handiwork should be the primary focus of the piece. While you're allowed to use pre-made or found items as components, they should serve as embellishments, rather than make up the bulk of the entry. For example, a bouquet of flowers in a plain vase wouldn't be accepted, but a handmade paper lantern adorned with a few blossoms would be perfect.

Now, quit stalling and pony up those entries! 🐎 Feel free to post here or message the event host (@Aerith) if you have any questions! ❤️
