What Are You Happy About Today?

Very excited for da hubby to get back today, its gonna be our first night alone since Christmas, and it's rare we're apart so I'm super super hyped. I have a nice dinner in mindto cook for when he gets home - salmon, jasmine rice, broccoli lemon and pak choi. other herbs and seasonings and whatevers in the draw. I feel weird when I'm alone so I'm glad the travelling is over for both of us now

Back in school today and while that's kind of a drag, I was glad to meet back up with my friends (the ones who actually came in lol). I brought in mango mochi I received for Christmas and shared it with a few friends in the art room, which was enjoyable. Mochi is really tasty. Unfortunately we didn't have art today as school started late due to weather conditions, but thankfully it's the same story tomorrow and I wouldn't have art class then anyway.

Bought my birthday cake and candles in preparation. The cake is one of those chocolate swiss roll caterpillars they do in Aldi. Haven't had one since I was probably six lol, so I'm pretty excited for that. Also the candles are the type that are designed like flowers and when you light the central fuse, the candles on the "petals" open up and spin around slowly, all while playing happy birthday. I love getting silly party stuff for my birthday, it makes it more fun for everyone rather than just me. Hope the candles work well, I've only used this kind once before a few years ago for a relative.

Been watching lots of animated movies I used to love and I'm really enjoying them. I've been on a binge for over a week now. Also started watching an anime that I really liked the manga of a few years ago. I don't tend to watch anime but I'm finding the style in Banana Fish really good

I'm actually happy with how my belted kingfisher drawing is turning out. It's for our summer art exam, we have to have a booklet made with mindmaps and development etc. I already have plenty planned for it, and I feel like the way the bird came out is indicative that this'll be good (I'm ignoring my misspelling of the theme Halcyon Days and focusing on the positives). I want to post the art, but I'll wait until I have more of my booklet done before I do. But yeah, I'm pretty excited with how it's turning out so far

My birthday was pretty fun. We got these candles that open up like flowers when you light them and play the 'happy birthday' tune. We bought two different types of the same thing, and before we lit the first one, I jokingly scooted my chair away from the table since we were joking that something was going to go wrong, but then when we lit it (for some reason the candle was spring loaded?? And not built securely to the base?? Lol) and it legit jumped into the air and landed where I would have been sitting, and one of the plastic 'petals' broke off and landed, somehow, upwards on the table cloth, so thankfully nothing went on fire lmao. So I'm pretty happy I don't have burns 💀 the second one was much better and didn't have any problems. Ironically, the safer one was the one that spun around in circles

Had one of those caterpillar cakes from Aldi for nostalgia, since I haven't had one in over a decade. For the same reason we also watched Monsters Inc. Was a pretty fun day all things considered.
