Nintendo told us all about the MKWii online features and because of their first false announcement, we presumed it would all be free.
We don't yet know if MKWii will be free or not.

I am making the logical assumption that the new paid online features will bring Nintendo closer to XBox Live. Since we don't know any specifics, I will not go as far as to say that they will FOR SURE beat Live, but the possibility is there. I'm not saying they WON'T beat it, either. I'm not saying anything regarding Nintendo beating Live or not. I'm just saying that new online features will bring it CLOSER to Live, which MAY OR MAY NOT result in Nintendo's new service beating it out.

Nintendo's never before launched a paid service (I think), so we can't compare it to Wi-Fi Connection in any way, shape, or form. You'll be surprised at how much difference paying for a service can make.
