about the voice chat, NO. No Wii game is ever going to have voice chat because they're safety freaks

A quote from Sakurai about voice chat in Brawl:
But there are all sorts of rules and regulations regarding communication on the Wii platform and so it was apparent to me that it just wouldn't come together, we weren't going to be able to do it, so we decided to cancel that feature. I'm very sorry about that. But if you're really desperate for it, you could set up Skype by your game station and go at it with a friend if you like.

I'm really losing hope in Nintendo, what, with all this stupid "pay to play" crap... One of the reasons I loved the Wii was because it was cheap and the internet and online games were free. I can throw that out the window now.
FREE GAMES ARE NOT GOING AWAY.

My God, you people need to learn to read. Pay & Play will be for a few titles, and it's game-to-game basis.

And, Gremp, pray tell me... why do freaking DS games have voice chat? The DS is made by the same "safety freaks" that make Wii.
Do you honestly believe their biggest online hits will be free?
Brawl is going to be free. We don't know about Mario Kart Wii, but I'm just saying, I think games like MMOs are going to be the few games with subscription based services.

Like AC Wii.
Can you base that up with facts?

Do you read? This will only be on SOME games, and we will STILL have free online games. And how can you tell me it will be crap without already playing one of these online games or even knowing much at all about the service? You should wait until we get more info before posting such ignorant posts.

I'm not doin' this...

I barely touch the Wii anymore. And I highly doubt that'll change much even when Brawl is out...I'm not going to pay for Xbox Live, and this...
Why is that? Sure, the overall selection of games has been a little lacking in the past, but things are finally picking up steam with WiiWare and all the upcoming games.
I dunno'...It's hard to explain. Nothing's really phazed me about the Wii's upcoming things...I mean sure there's Brawl, but I mean other than that.

For now, I'm sticking with my 360 and DS. And, from the look of things, I think it'll be that way for a while.

If Nintendo can climb it's Online-way into Xbox Live territory, that would be marvellous. However, being a person that's experienced both Xbox Live, and Wii's online...I, personally, don't really see it happening anytime soon. Who knows, though?
Yeah, I know what you mean. Judging by Nintendo's current online services, there's hard to have hope.

But you gotta remember that Nintendo's pioneered this stuff for ages. They were the first with online services in game consoles... Hell, they even had a DOWNLOADABLE SERVICE for the SNES. Satallaview, anyone remember that?

They're moving forward with WiiWare, and they'll move forward with online.

Also, the reason people aren't excited about Wii games is because they don't know about them. Consider checking out titles like Boom Blox, made by Steven Spielberg. Name sounds stupid, but the game itself looks freakin' amazing.

Great, now I'll have to pay to use nintendo's crappy online.

If they get rid of freind codes and have actual voice chat, I might pay.

Do I need to color-code my posts for you? Seriously man, you're freaking me out here. I've repeatedly explained that there has to be a reason for charging money.

One of those reasons is server up-keep. Generally, MMOs are server intensive. Thus, you can logically conclude that MMOs need lots of server up-keep and need revenue to support said servers. Games like Brawl and Mario Strikers Charged and etc don't really need extra money to support these servers, hence the FREE SERVICE.

I've looked at Bloom Box and I think I'll stick to Halo.
You make me laugh man, in a very bad way. And you wanted a serious discussion board?

You guys need to learn how to write coherent arguments instead of comparing Boom Blox with Halo.

How do you know it's going to be crappy if we know nothing of the content we will be getting yet! Who knows, friend codes could be gone and we could get voice chat with this, but I wouldn't call it crap until we know more.

May I direct you here...

"We test Brawl's online mode and walk away impressed."

Case and point.

do you really think nintendo will remove Friend Codes? Really? Theres no way we're going to get voice chat either, and if we do it will be like MPH, before/after the match with friends only.

The fact that Nintendo's charging money now means that YES, things are changing. Hence, there's always a chance.

I don't see why you feel the need to count out Nintendo. As I mentioned, they pioneered online in the future... it's not like they're behind the competition in any real way. They just choose not to do the things the others do.

Perhaps that's changing.

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin has voice chat during the game.

Seriously, if I see ONE more uneducated reply in this thread, I'm gonna go crazy...

Did you know gullible isn't in the dictionary?

The reason they want us to pay is in order to get more money. Nintendo is a company, not a God.

Thanks for telling me, I was unaware you knew the games that were going to be free. Sorry for not trusting you... And how am I ignorant for supporting the fact that we know NOTHING.

Ignorant - uneducated in general; lacking knowledge or sophistication

I believe I was talking about your lack of knowledge, or should I say, everyones at this point. So nowhere do I see that I was being ignorant.

We know nothing yet, so I don't think anyone should be saying it will be "crap" OR saying it will be awesome.

I'm sorry, is this about the Wii or the DS? DoR actually has a problem with hackers so not the best example of online gaming.
