Great, now I'll have to pay to use nintendo's crappy online.

If they get rid of freind codes and have actual voice chat, I might pay.
How do you know it's going to be crappy if we know nothing of the content we will be getting yet! Who knows, friend codes could be gone and we could get voice chat with this, but I wouldn't call it crap until we know more.
Do you think there is a good chance of that?
The fact that Nintendo's charging money now means that YES, things are changing. Hence, there's always a chance.

I don't see why you feel the need to count out Nintendo. As I mentioned, they pioneered online in the future... it's not like they're behind the competition in any real way. They just choose not to do the things the others do.

Perhaps that's changing.
Did you know gullible isn't in the dictionary?

The reason they want us to pay is in order to get more money. Nintendo is a company, not a God.
Where did I call them a God? I just said, they need to justify the new paid service somehow. After all, then, why keep the free service?

Obviously because the paid one will have features the free one will not. Use common sense.

do you really think nintendo will remove Friend Codes? Really? Theres no way we're going to get voice chat either, and if we do it will be like MPH, before/after the match with friends only.
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin has voice chat during the game.

Seriously, if I see ONE more uneducated reply in this thread, I'm gonna go crazy...
So did Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.

Then again, you needed friend codes to chat with the person....though that wasn't so bad...

Maybe they'll go after something in that direction with the Wii? I still haven't read the whole article, so I apoligize if I sound like an idiot, here...

Yeah, see though, Friend Codes are not an actual technical limitation. They're a choice made by Nintendo. It's not like, theoretically, they could drop the entire system. They're aware that FCs get lukewarm reception throughout the gaming community... it's not all gonna land on deaf ears.

And yeah, they might go in this direction with the paid service. I think they will.

I never claimed you said they were a God nor did I imply that.

You are also basically saying that they will justify the paid service by getting closer to Live but not beating it.

Ok, lets just think. Why would Nintendo make the good games, the ones that will actually sell a lot free to play online?

Also, this thread reminds me of this:

BRAWL'S ONLINE IS FREE. How many times must I say this? If they REALLY wanted to simply capitalize on a game's success to generate the most revenue, they'd get the paid service up and going and utilize it with Brawl.

about the voice chat, NO. No Wii game is ever going to have voice chat because they're safety freaks

A quote from Sakurai about voice chat in Brawl:
But there are all sorts of rules and regulations regarding communication on the Wii platform and so it was apparent to me that it just wouldn't come together, we weren't going to be able to do it, so we decided to cancel that feature. I'm very sorry about that. But if you're really desperate for it, you could set up Skype by your game station and go at it with a friend if you like.

I'm really losing hope in Nintendo, what, with all this stupid "pay to play" crap... One of the reasons I loved the Wii was because it was cheap and the internet and online games were free. I can throw that out the window now.
Do you read? This will only be on SOME games, and we will STILL have free online games. And how can you tell me it will be crap without already playing one of these online games or even knowing much at all about the service? You should wait until we get more info before posting such ignorant posts.
wow, you're ignorant (and apparently hypocritical)

YES. I know there are going to be free games, the thing is, all the free games are going to be the ones that SUCK. mmkay?
So, you're saying Brawl's going to "suck"?

May I direct you here...

http://wii.ign.com/articles/849/849570p1.html

"We test Brawl's online mode and walk away impressed."

Case and point.
that's because when Brawl gets released, the pay-to-play stuff isn't going to be released yet, but from the point that it gets released and on, I bet all the nintendo series icon games are going to be pay-to-play. If Pay-to-play gets released before MKWii comes out, then I'm 99.99% sure that they're going to make us pay, even though they got us all hyped about all the features that were in MKWii, thinking that we can get it all for free. But in the end, I'm almost positive that we're going to have to pay for it.

Oh, I know. I know Friend Code stuff was their choice. I mean, out of the consoles right now (360, PS3, Wii), the Wii is the more family-based system. I mean, thats the one most of the young kids are playing. That's the reason for friend codes right there, we all have to keep that in mind.

I NEVER SAID THEY WILL NOT BEAT LIVE. Dude, I don't see how you want a serious discussion board. You're not able to discuss this properly, let alone politics.

I said that BETTER FEATURES MEAN COMING CLOSER TO LIVE. Or, perhaps, BEATING it. But since we know NEXT TO NOTHING about the paid service and can only make LOGICAL ASSUMPTIONS, I am not saying early on that it will, hands-down, definitely beat Live.

How about I chew my argument for you.

I am making the logical assumption that the new paid online features will bring Nintendo closer to XBox Live. Since we don't know any specifics, I will not go as far as to say that they will FOR SURE beat Live, but the possibility is there. I'm not saying they WON'T beat it, either. I'm not saying anything regarding Nintendo beating Live or not. I'm just saying that new online features will bring it CLOSER to Live, which MAY OR MAY NOT result in Nintendo's new service beating it out.

That is all.

I don't recall calling it crap but I just don't believe that Nintendo's pay to play will be better or equal than Microsoft's.

no matter what happens, we're being gyped.

Nintendo said that the Wi-Fi connection would be totally free when they announced the WiiConnect24 thing.
LIES.

Nintendo told us all about the MKWii online features and because of their first false announcement, we presumed it would all be free.
LIES.

Nintendo always acted like the company that actually cares if the customers are satisfied and isn't just after our money.
TOTAL LIE.
