Words of advice to your pre-New Horizons self?

"Don't put houses in the most random places, don't try to save every single native fruit tree, you'll end up chopping most of them anyway and tarantulas attack only when you hold a net, you dummy" or something like that

Put villager houses in the beach at the start, it makes terraforming and island planning easier and then move them on the places you want them to be. Don’t pick villagers you like as your staters because they will end up in ugly DIY houses. Don’t fence up edges with bushes because you can’t enter the area anymore until you unlock terraforming. If even then...Well, at least my money trees are safe forever.

Everything else is movable except town hall. Catch and sell all the bugs and fish to Flick and CJ on the day they visit your island, not to the Nooklins. Avoid request where the viilager asks for bugs and fish because they will use them in their houses and never get rid off them. Also given clothing is also displayed in their houses.

Man... I could have picked a Peppy and Normal of my choice at the start.... Well not 'picked' but a whole lot easier than having to deal with all the other personalities. Peppy and Normal are my favorite personalities!

True, but they would have been stuck in their starter homes so maybe it was a blessing in disguise?

don’t stress about the functions - you’ll have it all down in about a week. also don’t sweat about terraforming because you’ll literally only do it twice and that’s it ;u;

Make sure that Resident Services is far, far away from the airport. If you don't want to listen to that advice, at the very least don't choose an island with Resident Services exactly 1 tile off-center. 🙃

- Don't make so many characters at the same time.
- Choose a different map because my residential services is too close to the airport.

Don't build all the houses Nook asks you to build on the same day.... The result will be getting 2 random villagers moving in...... ;-;

Yes, this. I built all 3, THEN went island hopping. I found someone to adopt, but as soon as I invited them, the other 2 houses were sold to random villagers. The 2 randoms are gone now, but it would've saved me the annoyance of dealing with villagers I didn't want for a while.

Yep thats exactly what happened to me. I was so upset once I learned that I could have moved in villagers of my choice ;-;

Ya that is a good point, Lucky is still stuck in his starting house for me haha

Oof. That's probably one of the most contrasting villager interiors, the starter one compared to his actual interior, right? I actually am not sure what it's supposed to look like. xD

Lucky’s actual house is like all ruins and stuff haha, his starter is pretty boring, like wooden I think

- Literally half of the things you thought you can move are unmovable so pick a good map (third time's the charm!)
- Don't let a plot get sold to a random or you'll cry because it's your luck
- Starter houses can't be changed so don't go crazy island hopping in the beginning for all of your favorites

Dear my pre-New Horizons self...

...

...

...Please be more patient when you're waiting for something

Keep your first Uchi. Now you can't get all the DIYs and reactions because you let her go too fast and you don't like any of the uchis

Don't pick an island with 2 south river mouths. You can't fit anything properly on your island for a long time and resident services is way too close to make a cool entrance :(

I would tell my past self to speak again to Tom Nook on the first day... I was exhausted and after having repaid the first 5000 Nook Miles loan I just said to myself: "Nook will upgrade my tent to a house without me asking him, it has to be automatic". Then I finally went to bed after a day of work. This is how I have been a day behind everyone who started the same day as me.
