Words of advice to your pre-New Horizons self?

Read everything. Don't skip over important text. More specifically, don't participate in the Museum stamp event without fully understanding how it works.

Don't visit all three parts of the museum and spend the time tediously collecting all of the stamps only to get the bug plague and then leaving, thinking the prize is randomized everyday between the three possible gifts.

You have to talk to blathers three times after visiting all of the stamp stations and you will get all three plaques. Save yourself the week of running through the museum wondering how the RNG gods could hate you so much as to give you five bug plaques in a row. You are simply not doing it the right way.

  1. Save your Nook Mile Points!
  2. You have twenty-four hours from the time someone leaves to get a new villagers
  3. Turnip exchange is your best friend
  4. Get acquainted with the Bell Tree Forum!
  5. Settle for the first mystery island villager you find who doesn't suck! Don't be picky!

Choose a map with river exits on different sides of the island! Both of mine are at the bottom, and although I like the placement of one, wish the other was on the right hand side.

Three words: Take. It. Slow.
I feel like, at least during the first couple of days, I rushed through all of the opening/tutorial stuff because I just wanted to start getting villagers in town that I liked. Kind of wish I had slowed down because I always end up enjoying the game more that way.

My advice to myself: Stop kidding yourself saying you won’t time travel.
