the end of ugly villagers?

Even Nintendo has done something similar in a way. There's an amiibo card of Lottie both with and without her makeup and they kinda made her without makeup look a bit more depressing? I don't know how to describe it. But it really sends the wrong message whether or not they were intentional in doing so.

I mean what was the point of the gray bow? Feels highly suspicious to me

I can see it as they're sprucing up the graphics because they're coming to a large screen, so they're able to add more detail, one being highlights in her eyes in the pictures on the left. Her eyes were too tiny for highlights in the image on the right. The gray bow was just kind of gray and dull, changing it to blue again adds more detail and makes Lottie pop.

lottie has always looked like that, though. she has separate models in her debut game (HHD) with and without makeup. it doesn't have anything to do with updating the graphics. if you look at the card numbers, the makeup-less card is newer.

i don't think they were trying to insult lottie by making her look like that in her makeup-less card, but yeah, it is a little weird how they make the makeup thing like...a character trait of hers. i don't get the point of making her bow gray either...

Ooooh, okay, that explains a lot.

Well rats, I thought I had a great explanation.

I guess not so fast--read Charcolor's post up there.

If you look at the cards the one on the left is for version 1 of the amiibo cards. The second is for version 3. She debuted as wearing makeup. If you use either card in the Roost she will show up with or without makeup depending which you use. It still doesn't explain why they had to change her bow to being a duller gray color.

It feels a bit aimed if you ask me. Japan has always had an air of sexism. I got tired of seeing one of the girls in Naruto always talk about how she was hopeless cause she didn't get married in her 20s or maybe it was her 30s. And she would dote on any male that gave her the slightest bit of attention or niceties. There was also a girl in One Piece that behaved the same way.

Yeah, I was mistaken as Charcolor pointed out after I had posted. See what I get for not keeping up? LOL
