What Are You Happy About Today?

Not a lot of stuff has happened since my last post, nothing major. Mostly art related lol

Got back into writing a little bit, so I have some more added to a fic I was writing

My art teacher had us all bring in mugs and gave us tea during our double class today, and she wants to make it a weekly thing. She's so amazing 😭

It's a friend's birthday tomorrow so we're heading to town to hang out. Very excited as I haven't hung out with them in years (outside of school). Unfortunately though, another friend whose bday is also tomorrow is leaving back to Germany, as her exchange period in my school is over now. We did have a free class today listening to songs to celebrate her though, it was quite sweet

Finally got some time to work on my own, non-school related art, hoping to get those done soon now that I have some time on my hands

Started an etching today of some legend of zelda art for my art booklet for school, and it's pretty fun. But Oh My Goodness, it's taking ages. Like what do you mean it took me half an hour to etch twenty or so tiny triangles and two clouds, not even making up 5% of the finished piece 😭. And since I got 33 print-outs from the office because the printer was bugging out, I can keep a few aside as spares while also spreading Link lmao. One of my friends took one and gave it to the English teacher lol, she was happy with it though (idt she understood it, but she appreciated it nonetheless)

Despite the miserable weather here, today has been pretty good today.

Nice sleep in (despite the weird dreams and slight headache), went out to see the new Tesco that was recently added to our shopping street, bought some stuff there, and found some sweets I have been looking for.

At the Saturday market I got a nice lunch, as well as a nutella and oreo crumbed crepe (delightful omg)

Today, I am focused on playing some switch agmes I have not played yet. Try and finish Toem, since im almost finished and play other games :D
Just have a nice and cosy time at home.

Maybe get back into my DIY i have left?

I organised what I plan to do next week, and made note of my hours for last week.

  • I don't have to go anywhere today thankfully, it's 2 degrees outside with snow and 40 mph wind and a windchill of negative 18 degrees. Thankful to be cozy in my warm apartment with my cats
  • Got my groceries delivered
  • Some books I order from my local indie bookstore came in yesterdsy so I went and picked those up yesterday. Excited to get into them!
  • Got a bunch of nice stationary related stuff on amazon which all came yesterday. Happy with it all
  • I slept well, woke up with one of my cats snuggled up to me (my orange cat Papi) which is always nice to wake up to
  • I have plenty of time to relax this weekend :)

Today I'm happy because I got to start burning a fancy scented candle my partner got me during the holidays 🥰

I am happy because I get to spend tomorrow watching the Super Bowl with my girlfriend who is a huge Seahawks fan!!! Go Hawks!!!

Apparently, my bestie's @/AshtonDraws's S/O commissioned him (Ashton) to draw his (Ashton) and my OCs together. Their names are Luka (Ashton's OC) and Calvin (my OC). Ashton and I have multiple OC ships, some of our own, and some together. We started shipping Luka and Calvin together back in December 2022 (IIRC).

Here it is, if you wanna take a look (CW for slight blood)

His OC Luka is the blue and purple one in the microphone outfit, and my OC Calvin is the yellow bee OC with the yellow starry vibe. My OC Calvin used to look pretty bland, but I decided I wanted him to have a starry/astronomy vibe along with Ashton's Luka, so I gave it to him back in November of last year. And damn, Calvin looks so much better. :,)

This was a nice surprise to go on Discord to. :,)

- I discovered an easier way of downloading Switch 2 screenshots onto my phone. Used to, we would have to use a QR code (which wouldn't always budge), and half the time, I would just get an error. But uploading them to the Switch App and downloading them from there seems to be a lot more full-proof. I wish I would have discovered this back in June, but better late than never, I guess. ^_^

- A YouTube friend of mine did a rant on the Super Bowl. He talked about how over-hyped it is and how people are forceful about watching it. It was comforting to watch, since the Super Bowl has always been more of an annoyance (mainly because of sensory issues) for me than something to look forward to.

- I noticed that either my brother or my dad got Paramount+ onto the TV in our sunroom/backyard livingroom patio. My brother mostly has it for sports, but it also has SpongeBob on it--my favorite show of all time. I only got to watch one episode ("Growth Spout") since my dad had to get into the room and switched it to the Super Bowl. But it's nice to finally have all (or at least most) of the SpongeBob episodes at my fingertips. :,)

My sister lost her art booklet (for the State examinations) and was really worried about it as she'd only have a few weeks to restart it. I mentioned her losing it to another friend who started looking too, and found it inside of someone else's booklet 😭 very relieved about it being found, it would have been terrible to lose it, especially at the point it's gotten to

Rediscovered a music artist I used to listen to on and off (Ren, in case anyone's interested) and it's been such a pleasure relistening to songs I used to play all the time and finding new ones since

Actually managed to write up something for my chemistry experiment with some background research which I've been struggling with for a while - about a week at this point - and that's taken a weight off my shoulders lol

I've progressed further in my Legend of Zelda etching, though not by too much. I have the boarder completed, and I've since moved onto Link himself. I've totaled ~2 hours on just that, idk if I'm just exceptionally slow or if it's normal to take a long while. Its really fun though! I'm enjoying it so far. And for my final piece for my art exam, I'm planning on making a Spirit Tracks-inspired rotating train using an old Roses tin and magnets. So far it spins (needs to be done by hand though, it's not motorised or anything), but it still needs to be painted and the trains made for it. I'm thinking of trying out wood carving for the trains, but I've never done one before (if you have any experience making wood carvings before I'd love tips lol)
