Thoughts on the amount of glitches in this game?

There were a lot of issues with the game so far, but I don't think any of them affected a regular player so far, right? There were all the duping glitches and then the one were amiibo villagers were screwed up a bit and had the wrong house or wouldn't move until they were pushed out? All of these issues were fixed pretty quickly, which is fine in my eyes. I do feel for people who lost their save files, but it doesn't seem like a common issue that just happens for no reason. You should probably avoid duping hundreds of lucky cats, no matter how tempting it seems.

I do prefer having the game out in March and seeing changes actively than them holding it back for more months until it works perfectly.

The "I've moved out" / "___'s new house" glitches affected regular players. And a lot of them too. I got the "I've moved out" glitch simply by visiting someone's island while I had an empty plot. I picked up a glitched villager from their void (the plot was instantly sold when I got back). Not even through any intentional villager trading. I eventually had to use an amiibo to kick the glitched villager and it worked, but this came with a lot of anxiety because some were saying that kicking the villager made their game glitch worse

Also it took them weeks to fix it and when they did they didn't even confirm it in the patch notes specifically. Ppl had to test to see if it was really fixed.

But I mean, overall I think they're doing the best they can to patch glitches fast, and I agree it was probably a net good decision for them to push it out in March.

I mostly meant non-amiibo non-multiplayer players by saying "regular", but I guess that's not exactly accurate. 😅 I haven't experienced that glitch, so I mostly just saw people talking about their villager houses having different exteriors and them having to fix it, sorry for downplaying the issue with that! I think the important part is that Nintendo has been relatively quickly with updates, because you can't really prevent them.

Ahaha yeah the vast majority of people play multiplayer so I guess that part just had me a little confused :P I thought you meant like, non dupers and non TTers. Sorry if I came across a bit harsh!

But yeah, I think overall Nintendo has done a pretty good job handling the glitches in this game, I wish they would have more communication with players about being aware of them/if they've fixed them buuut Nintendo's gonna Nintendo we're all just along for the ride

it’s wild. while i’ve been lucky so far with not experiencing any glitches, it’s crazy to see them seemingly pop up one after another ;u;

To be honest I’ve only experienced glitches with one amiibo villager and it really didn’t affect anything. If you do more high risk activities such as dupes or force closing, you will experience glitches that put you at higher risks as well.

I have a villager stuck in boxes.

Apparently it's a problem if you have one villager in boxes then invite someone from your campsite on the same day, putting a 2nd villager in boxes. The campsite kick-out villager moved out the next day, the original villager in boxes has now been in boxes for 3 days...

I was so excited that I would be able to finally go island hopping again, but now I'm stuck.

The game hasn't been in development for over 7 years. Maybe 3 at the most, but there were spin-offs in between. Every game has glitches, and while the QA department should be responsible for finding them all, it's just not possible. At least they're fixing them as they are found. Glitches doesn't take away how great the game is.

I mean... the team of people who worked on this game is impressively small. Most of the employees working on ACNH were 3D modelers - I remember being impressed to find out there’s only one credited lighter. ONE?? that’s absolutely insane. Animal Crossing, up until now, was also one of Nintendo’s lesser major franchises- it was not going to get the same time & attention as a Mario or Zelda. Nintendo totally could have put a bigger team on it ESPECIALLY of developers, of which I can remember only a few being credited, but I don’t think it’s fair to blame a small team, running up against a tough deadline who already asked for delays, for a few early life cycle glitches. It’s gonna be OK- take it slow. They’re patching the game as we go- & with a promised year of updates, I really doubt it’ll be a problem forever.

I've heard that people have had success with getting the stuck villager out by getting someone to adopt them. Have you tried that? Using an Amiibo will work if you have one already. I'm not sure if an RNG camper can select the stuck villager to move, but if you're desperate, you can try save scumming that.

Between the glitches, the save resetting from trying to use basic game features like leaving by the - button, as well as the horrendously outdated online infrastructure and the bizarre design decisions that are obviously bad/missing to any player... it leaves me with the impression that the developers making this weren’t actually into the game themselves and not super passionate about it. Like they were designing for a different audience, like people might design games for children. It’s like they’re really out of touch with what the players want and will do.
