The owl city thread

First Owl City song I ever heard, hm? It was this summer, the first time I had turned the radio on in years, Fireflies was playing. I swear I thought it was a remix of some new Relient K song.

Turns out that Matt Thiessen sang on that song (though who can really tell? His voice blends with Adam Young). Sucks that one of Adam Young's inspirations was Relient K, and now he's the uber famous one and barely anyone knows who Relient K is.

Relient K are still reasonably popular though, many people just don't want to listen to them because they label themselves as Christian Rock, which implies all of their songs are about God and such.

Technically Adam Young is a christian artist too. Though most of his songs are about nonsense or relationships (same as Relient K) he does have a few blatantly christian songs like Meteor Shower, which he himself declared a worship song.

Yes, but he doesn't label his genre of music as Christian Rock, unlike Relient K.

I don't know why, but I found this hilarious. XD

What was your first heard Owl City song?
Hello Seattle.

I found Owl City probably around beginning of last July, so before fireflies was popular. I love every.single.song, I would fall asleep to them playing on my ipod at my summer camp for a whole month.
Same.. except I ain't so fond of fireflies. .. like really?

It's rather stupid because I'm so annoyed yet so happy that Adam actually hit mainstream. Annoyed because of all the fangirls, happy because he's finally making a *censored.2.0*ton of money.

I've been listening to Owl City for ages, I think the first song I heard was Rainbow Veins, and then you get the fangirls that come along saying how they've been listening forever and that Fireflies is the best song evarrr.

</rage>
This pretty much.
First song I heard was Rainbow Veins, and surprisingly, as popular as Fireflies is now, it's not even in my Owl City playlist, and I've only heard it like once.
Kind of reminds me of how everyone knows Modest Mouse by Float On and I barely listen to that song and it's one of my least favorites (I love everything by Modest Mouse though, it's just not a song I listen to very frequently) =S
