TBT is celebrating the start of the Year of the Horse! Our latest event, TBT's Lunar New Year for 2026, is now underway! Meanwhile, we invite you to share your feedback for the forum in the February 2026 Survey. Thank you!
For my entry, I've never celebrated or observed the Lunar New Year, but if I were to I would most likely celebrate it by trying all the different food and meals that are made. I've never been one that's shy from trying something different. It just might take me a while sometimes! Better late and this year than never! Most of my family is the complete opposite and can be quite snobbish. I picked out a red hat and a silk robe shirt. Realistically this is what I would wear to observe/celebrate the holiday. My wardrobe and items were a bit limited, but thankfully I ordered most of the seasonal items when they were available! (I really want to try to make some of this now! )
For this entry, I have decided to create a quiet and respectful observance to the start of the Year of the Horse. Tributes of carrots and apples to the Horse are given. For my attire, I decided to swap out my usual black ninja attire to red for good luck. Foxes are auspicious animals and so I wear its mask to hope that this year will be fortuitous for everyone.
The day of the lunar new year ALSO happened to fall on 1. Fat Tuesday hence the festive lantern(that I just realized u can’t see, whoops), 2. My youngest’s 18th bday!!!!! Represented by the trees, bounty lamp because my children are my greatest bounty, 3. My mom got to ring the chemo bell a few weeks ago and on lunar new year, she got a CT done. Even though we haven’t not been to see the doctor to discuss those results, I have seen them and they look great. So I am decorated all out in red and gold for lunar new year along with Julian who some of you know represents my brother & Bunnie who has always represented my mom since new leaf days. I’m so very grateful right now.
