The Anime Thread

That sounds like it would have so much potential. It's a shame they didn't take advantage of it to create something really unique.
Back when Toonami or whatever it was aired Sword Art Online, I thought it would be an interesting show about people being trapped and how they get out, but nope it just turned into a boring fan-service anime. I didn't get pass the 2nd episode or something lol.

I started watching MHA again. I think it's season 6? It had been so long since I watched the last season I kind of forgot and had to get a quick recap. The episodes I watched so far have been good. I can't remember if the rabbit hero was in the previous seasons since I have forgot a bit, but she feels kind of not interesting? I don't recall a backstory, but maybe they give her one and I haven't gotten that far yet. Even if she is one-dimensional, what I've watched so far has been good.

SAO is an interesting series about how people are trapped in a game and get out. I'd say it has no more fanservice than the average anime these days. If the concept interests you, maybe instead check out some of the movies that sum up the main events in the series if you'd rather not watch every episode. I've seen all seasons and it was worth watching for me.

MHA is an amazing series. Lots of interesting stuff gets revealed in season 6. Season 7 was one of the best seasons to me, since the best I can sum it up without spoilers, lots of really over the top and unexpected stuff happens, so just keep going with it! Currently I'm watching MHA: Vigilantes as it comes out. It's a spinoff with different main characters but some of the original characters show up too. It's very interesting so far!

I'm not watching anime as much as I used to, but I may watch the new Gundam one even if everybody complain about it.
Not of fan of Gundam but I loved FLCL so...
Solo Leveling seems interesting, I don't know
The thing is I watched a lot of anime in the past, then got tired of the usual tropes, I need to watch something different. Any suggestion?
Each year I'm doing the MAL hunt and remember that I still love watching them. I'm just lazy. I have hard time to keep up with several seasons.
On my list:
Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain
Horimiya

Or maybe I should finish what I started.

I would like to watch a thriller or horror one.

Solo Leveling is very interesting. But I guess it does have similarities to some other game-like animes. And definitely watch the Mononoke movie! There are going to be more new movies later on. If you like it, check out the Mononoke series too. Kusuriuri is such an interesting character to watch. Horrific events definitely happen but it seems more like mystery/fantasy to me. Another suggestion I thought of, and this is more of a scifi anime where lots of crazy scary stuff happens, maybe check out Heavenly Delusion. It's also worth continuing with the manga if you like the anime. The last traditionally spooky ghost sort of horror anime I really enjoyed was Dark Gathering. Honestly I feel like there are not nearly enough horror animes. I could use some more recommendations myself.

I heard FLCL is getting some sort of remake? The closest animes I can think of with an FLCL like vibe are Flip Flappers and Kyousougiga. I'm not too familiar with Gundam but I'll also add one of my top mecha recommendations, Bokurano, another series where some absolutely horrifying things happen. I know some of my suggestions are a bit dated but I was trying to think of shorter series because for a long time I've been watching mostly stuff that spans multiple seasons. I'm not familiar with the other series you named so maybe someone else can elaborate on those.

Oh yes I already watched the Mononoke series, Kusuriuri is one of my favorite characters, I watched Ayakashi too.
Heavenly Delusion is on my list, I may start with that and add Dark Gathering. I haven't seen lot of horror anime myself. Mostly short stories like Yamishibai. I saw that The Summer Hikaru Died would be realised in summer. I will watch it. I'm not far into the manga but so far I like it.

FLCL got some kind of sequel but it's not the same, I just watched an episode I think, still on hold. I watched Flip Flappers and Kyousougiga, I liked those. Bokurano is on my list too, (I have like almost 600 anime that I planned to watch lol). I like watching series that are older and complete because otherwise I forget. I may be able to follow one season (and it's fun to watch at the same time as everybody else) but I often forget about the next seasons and never finish them. I have so many anime on my watchlist that are there for years, like 10 years! I fear I will have to re-watch them from the beginning all over again.

The other anime I mentioned are school life anime that I see often in the suggestions.

Nice it sounds like you have seen a bunch of good anime. I saw some of Yamishibai but I'm not sure which seasons so I'd try watching it again later. The Summer Hikaru Died sounds like something I'd probably check out too. I also keep a list of anime I plan to watch. It can get difficult keeping track of long running series for sure. I liked FLCL Progressive/Alternative but didn't like the next one after that so much (can't even remember the name lol). Nothing beats the first FLCL though.

I've seen a bunch, but I still have a lot of classics to watch or finish. :)
