The Anime Thread

It has been a hot minute since I've watched any anime, but I recently started Blue Box because I love a good sports/drama/romance anime.

I'm on episode three right now, and I'm enjoying the setup and characters so far. It's exactly my cup of tea!
I’m very interested in Blue Box mainly because my two favorite genres are sports and romance. It’s not on the site I’m using, though. I assume you’re using Crunchyroll or a paid streaming service for it?

Ave Mujica have made their first appearance in Bandori as cameos in the upcoming MYGO!!!!! event cards. Here is Tomoris card (featuring Uika):

I really do hope Ave Mujica get added to Bandori as a whole soon. I am certain they will be added at some point, but we may have to wait a long while from now. It is still amazing to see them featured as cameos though 🎭 ~ I am patiently awaiting any new information about the AveMygo sequel anime.

Well, I just finished watching the entirety of Aggretsuko. I've only ever watched every episode of a series less than a half-dozen times, and this became one of 'em. Not sure what it is, but there was something about this anime that kept me wanting to watch it. I personally thought that season 5's plot felt awkward, but overall, I enjoyed the character development a lot. I also share a common thought process with Haida in a way -- it's hard to push yourself out of your comfort zone when it comes to doing the things you really want to do in life, and chickening out too much will lead to misery.

Oh, and Tadano is such a great role model. He's my favorite character in the anime, and it's not hard to see why. It's sooo hard to dislike the guy with his easygoing personality and respect for others, despite his wealth.

*Sigh* What a guy.

Trying to finish this romance anime that claims to be centered around the pandemic. So far everything's a joke and just some generic shojo romance.

Also not a fan of force kisses.
I heard this thing is getting a second season, like what....

Yeah, everyone is practicing there social distance alright. lol (it happens more than once)

But really, there's like no indication that a 'infectious disease' (which the anime calls it) is going around, other than their school events getting canceled or something.

I thought it would be interesting to see an anime do a take on the pandemic and characters that are in Highschool at the time during the start of it all. My youngest brother was still in high school himself around this time.

But nope, there's nothing other than what I just mentioned. Maybe the manga version is different, but I doubt it.

The anime is called: Anyway, I'm falling in love with you

I’ve been watching Blue Box. As of this post, S1E11. I’m really enjoying it. It’s two of my favorite genres (sports/romance) meshed in the best possible way. I’m actually shocked by how great this series is. I’m glad a second season was confirmed!

I looove Precure. Wonderful Precure was so cute. They’ve been doing really well with the new seasons! I also enjoyed Tropical Rouge. Playing the Madoka: Magia Exedra game got me back into Madoka Magica - so I’ve been watching the Magia Record anime. I think it was hated at the time because the game was so much more in-depth, but I’m enjoying the visuals a lot so far!

I attended a screening for Inu-Oh. What a movie. It really kept my attention. The music was great. The animation was so vivid and detailed. Check it out if this looks interesting to you.

Not sure if anyone watches Aharen-san. There was a lengthy Animal Crossing parody in season 2 episode 2. It was hilarious! 😂

Never thought that I'd find myself in this thread, but I think I've found something I like: Aggretsuko. I just finished binging the first season.

"But Trevor, you previously said that you don't have an interest in Sanrio stuff when you talked about those six villagers in New Horizons!"

Well, I kinda lied. Truth is, one of my guilty pleasures is animation that features anthropomorphic animals. What got me interested in this anime is Retsuko's hidden talent for singing karaoke death metal, which is slowly revealed to her co-workers and friends as the plot goes on. With me being a big fan of both rock music and animation, I'd thought I'd watch the first episode on Netflix. Before you know it, I've already gone through the whole first season, which basically involves Retsuko trying to find a boyfriend (so she can quit her accounting job) whilst dealing with ridiculous demands from her unforgiving boss, Mr. Ton.

All five seasons are 10 episodes lasting around 15 minutes, so I'm going to moderate how often I get back into it. But seriously, I can't believe a dude like me wants to watch an entire Sanrio show.
Aggretsuko is not your typical Sanrio. It's great! I really identified with Retsuko in season 1 as a shy, quiet office worker who loves metal music.

That sounds like it would have so much potential. It's a shame they didn't take advantage of it to create something really unique.

I could tell right away. Once I saw some of the characters drinking beers and using some colorful language, I realized that it’s aimed at young adults, and honestly, I liked that for a change. I didn’t feel as guilty watching it compared to something that’s more kid-oriented, and despite having romantic themes, the anime never took them to extremes (if I recall correctly, not one character kissed another).

I share some mental traits with Haida — the most obvious being his inability to take the extra step himself. As he typically relies on his co-worker Fenneko (and to some extent, Tsunoda) to get dating advice, I pretty much act the same way and chicken out if I sense the smallest thing that can go wrong. He eventually learns to do it, but to heavily mixed results.

Ton acts like a grump most of the time, but you get to know the guy better later on. In fact, there are moments in the later seasons where I legitimately felt bad for some of the stuff he had to go through. He also gives “Calendar” pretty good life advice at the most random of times, which makes him a better character than he makes out to be.

And then there’s Tadano. He’s so cool. So cool, in fact, that I wanted to make him my PFP. While not a major character in the later seasons, I always liked the parts when he appeared to help Retsuko and her friends out. He’s fair too — for instance, he does not simply bail others out of their problems with his wealth. Rather, he knocks some advice into their minds in the most positive ways you can imagine. I enjoyed season 2 the most, and was saddened when Retsuko broke up with him because he didn’t want to get married. To his credit, however, he never did dread about it at all afterwards.

I could go on and on. With the exception of some of season 5, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I finished the first season of Blue Box tonight. I can’t wait for the second season to release, but I doubt it’ll be out prior to 2026.

This is a manga I’d be interested in, but I’m not sure I want to spend the money on physical books. I don’t believe the manga is finished either at this point?

I'm not sure if I can post this here. A teaser for a new Ghost in the Shell thing. The old series was dialog heavy and not the sort of thing I wanted to see at the time. This looks like its hand drawn.

Why is POV anime a thing. Like leave that stuff to the Visual novels. It's so cringy watching the characters float around the screen talking and answering to no one, extra points if it's fanservice of all things. Ugh.

I was scrolling through Crunchyroll looking for a short anime to watch and came across this...thing called: Room Mates. I have seen/ came across POV anime before. I watched some anime Youtubers rip the genre a new tail end a long time ago.

My gosh, this one made me uncomfortable. There's like one scene where one of the guys just pins you to the wall while shirtless, the show does acknowledge it as being inappropriate..still the red flags and a scene where they are taking a bath and you're spying on them?????

Also there are times where the angles don't make zero sense, like here:

Ya'll looking the wrong way. lol

Also this one is my favorite:

So, did he kill me???????

Context: He's some young aspiring stage actor(?), So you come across him practicing being a Samurai (or ninja..I forgot). But for some reason you went from being inside to out.

This anime better be some undercover BL, I swear. There's no way these guys are straight.
