Or a full game is

To answer the question, the demo gives you the chance to "test" the game. You get it solve some problems of the miis, transfer 3 miis into the insland, but once you are done with that, you can't do anything "thrilling". You'll need the full game in order to continue on solving problems, therefore playing the game. The demo is just a taste to the game.

And if you use the demo then switch to full game (using the NA code at least) you get a panda suit for your miis
