It seems they also looking for a solution that companies now making online presentations. It sucks, but it's understandable.

After all: Safety first.

Like you said, safety first. WHO has just released a statement saying they are calling this a pandemic so it’s understandable that companies are doing everything in their power to prevent further outbreak.

I’m sure the gaming community will find other ways to come together, as upsetting as it is to have such a large event cancelled.

dang. i’m honestly not surprised - a lot of events are being cancelled or postponed due to the virus, but as you said, safety first and online presentations are always an option

yeah, i'm not surprised they cancelled too. many events, concerts, etc are being cancelled and/or delayed, just like the olympics too. things are getting bizarre and out of control with how easy it is to spread it. it's recommended, heavily recommended to avoid crowded areas and events/concerts/etc are the best places to spread these things or tourist areas that re generally crowded. they can definitely do an online presentation. i think sony skipped e3 last year and did their own conference, wouldn't be surprised if they were to do that again this year with big plans and work they've got going on. stay safe everyone

This is a good thing.

I never attended but I used to write for Nintendo fansites and several of the people I knew that used to go to these things would joke about how everyone always got sick.

The theory was two fold.

1. Many of these people were gamers, who tend to be introverts, and they rarely left their homes as that's usually where they worked from. A common thought on immune systems is that they weaken when not exposed regularly to everyday germs.

2. It's nothing but people lined up to touch controllers that literally hundreds and hundreds of strangers have touched before you.

Combine that with an enclosed space and you have a germ farm the likes of which is rarely created on earth. They used to call it the "E3 Flu." Lol

Honestly, this should only affect people who were planning to go. Especially when talking Nintendo games. All the info from Nintendo was already coming from the Direct + E3 Treehouse, and both of these can be easily done without the actual E3 event.

E3 was pretty big from what I remember in the early 2000s. I attended in 2000 because my brother knew someone in the industry, and it was packed with people and new things. I'd say E3 had a nice 20 year run.

Best E3 year goes to 2001. That Nintendo and sony lineup was godlike

As more developers and companies used the internet to announce projects, the importance of the event just wasn't needed as much. Just look at gaming magazines lol I haven't bought one since 2006. Everything gets announced online or at neogaf.
