Do you use Rescue Service at all?

Well this took longer then expected. Anyway, this is basically how I feel about this. I never use it at all because it's hard to get lost or stuck.
LMAOOOOO

I've never used it, since I make sure beforehand I won't put myself in a spot to accidentally get stuck

I used it once to get away from wasps. Mostly to see if it would work. It did and if I wasn't prepared for wasps and didn't want to get stung, then I might use it that way again.

Ohh this is good! I made a big lake with a tree in the middle of it and when I realized I was trapped, my response was just make land one tile at a time until I manage to get to land.... The 100 miles would be worth it.....
This is so funny, I’m sorry you had to go through that.

Reading your guys’ posts it seems this was probably Nintendo’s intent all along with the Rescue Services, even if the majority of players would never actually “need” to use them. I’ve yet to use them myself but I guess I will at some point just to see what happens.

Only two times so far. Once because I just wanted to try it out, the other time to escape from some wasps as there was no building around me where I could run into it.

....if you...get "stuck" and "rescue" takes you back to your house....cant you just save and quit and open the game back up and get the same results?

I have used it a few times for fast travel when I was too lazy to walk across my island to the airport. Other than that, no, it's pretty worthless

Yeah, but as a few people in this thread said, you can have your house on a cliff with no inclines or behind a large river with no bridges, then drop your pole/ladder off somewhere else and quit the game this way! If this happens the app is actually useful.

i dont think the app was created with the intention that people would be using it that often, but since this game has sooooo much more customisation than any of the previous entries there are bound to be ways to get yourself into an inescapable position and this is just to save you if you're somehow dumb enough to do that lol

but as everyone else has said, mainly just when I'm too lazy to walk I'll use it. probably insanely useful for those islands that are very tight with a lot of fences, trees, terraforming, shrubs and tightly squeezed buildings everywhere.
plus if the place you want to go to requires a ladder or pole vault and you don't have the tool on hand, it might be convenient to use the app to get there instead.

in conclusion, resetti now has a much more stress-free job and is living his best life while also helping make our island life more convenient. what a saint

I think the main purpose of the rescue service is to prevent you from soft-locking yourself with terraforming. Without it, you could put your house on a cliff or in a pit surrounded by walls, throw away your ladder, and it would be game over. Or you could build a wall around your beach and get rid of all of your trees, wood, and ladders, but the rescue service lets you fly to the airport which then allows you to visit a mystery island, which then allows you to get a ladder, which makes it impossible to soft-lock yourself. That being said, it would be hell if you put every building and Resident Services inside a pit, walled off your beach, threw away your ladder and all of the resources to craft it, and spent all of your Nook Miles so you'd be forced to spend every day flying to Resident Services to collect Nook Miles from the terminal and quitting for the day so you can save up enough to get a Nook Miles ticket and get a ladder (I know you can also go to someone else's island and get a ladder or resources there, but that's only if you have Nintendo Online). Don't ask me why I wasted time imagining that scenario.

I was wondering: what does this service provide that is different from saving the game, closing it, and being respawned at your house? Is it faster? Or is the only draw the Resetti appearance?

Not at all, I never got lost in my island and I’m pretty conservative with Nook Miles, but it could have a use for transport.

While I was placing a big hedge around my house and yard I constantly had to place myself differently to prevent myself from getting stuck, but that was the only time I could have gotten close to getting stuck, even though I did make a path to safety a couple of times, to destroy it behind me.

But short answer no. I never used clean up service either btw.

I never use rescue service! I kinda wish resetti had a bigger role but he’s not the only npc to have had his role changed because his old role was resolved in a different way- ie Harriet isn’t even in the game anymore because shampoodle is useless now that we don’t have the mirror anymore

It is faster, and you can be dropped off at your house, the plaza, the airport, or the shops.

That might make me more inclined to use it, actually. Sometimes I have wished for fast travel when trying to juggle too many errands, or when getting ready to finish up for the night, tired. Thank you for explaining!

I use it as a "Fly" HM with a small fare of 100NMP. I don't use it often too often though! (Though I used it a lot while terraforming. Carrying 36 trees ain't funny.)

I haven't used it yet, but this is inspiring me to start using it like that! I'm disappointed to hear there's no quest for it, though.,
