Do you ever feel like this?

If I start to feel this way, I think about how difficult it would be for me to find someone to replace them. I like to have all eight personalities with only normal and smug duplicates and I try to have ten different animal types. Cats are the only species where I have two of them. There are only so many villagers I like, so that also doesn’t encourage me to let anyone go.

Here’s how it would go down for me. I like Apollo but he’s an eagle so if I adopt him, then I would want to let Sterling go since they’re both eagles.
This creates two problems for me:

1)Apollo being an eagle means that I’m gonna get rid of Sterling (and there are really only a small number of jocks that I like)

2)Since he’s a cranky type, I’d be booting out Octavian.

I know it would probably be easier to be a little less particular about all of this, but I was bored of seeing the same animal species everywhere I went (I had three octopi and three wolves at one point) and I can only tolerate so much dialogue from certain personality types.

It's hard to let go of villagers you love, that's a fact. I have felt the same way before, so I totally get it. I'm not sure when or even if I've totally changed but I don't feel like I'm as attached as I used to be. I tell myself that if I let them go, I can always just find them again - and maybe I'll find a new favorite I never even thought of. Like Snooty. She moved in and I was like "ew" but she was always giving me the best DIYs and coming through with the absolute best presents. So I gave her a Junihitoe Kimono and gave her a cute Japanese themed yard and she was so cute and freaking loved it and I still am so happy I got her on my island.

I never really had dreamies. I had a list at first but I'm pretty flexible and I don't plan on buying villagers so I'm leaving a lot of it up to luck. I determined I'm going to get their pictures before letting them go. The only exceptions would Diana, Apollo, Marshall, and Raymond. I already have the first two so I'll be cycling 8 villagers for a while cause I'll be taking the first one that I like when I go on island hunts.

100% in the same boat. Molly kept asking to leave, and I kept telling her no. I finally had to accept that I've got to let my little birds spread their wings.

Plus, I'd never be able to use my western style stone if no one ever left.

I feel the same way. It’s a tricky balance. Getting new villagers gives me a reason to stay interested in the game. At the same time, I’m hesitant to replace the villagers I have and like when I don’t have their amiibo cards. I’d like to get more amiibos and regularly cycle a few spots.

I understand that people want to obtain and keep their dream villagers but by doing so they are robbing themselves of discovering a new villagers who could potentially be a new favorite. It does suck when a villager you like moves out, but then again it'd get boring if everything stayed the same. :S

YES!!! Struggling with this right now. I love all my villagers a lot. Even though visually I'd prefer others over Midge & Mac, I really really want a music hobby villager, and I have Amiibos for villagers I'd like to invite... I can't bring myself to do it! I'm working my way up to it slowly, but I'm gonna be so sad to see some of my OGs go.

Yes, a lot of the time actually. There are so many villagers that I personally like. I feel rotating them is an option because I want to see other dream villagers I love lol

I feel that the lack of my satisfied hunger is due partially because they have limited our villager count in this game. We had 12 villagers total in NL but only have 10 here iirc. I feel our island is big enough to hold much more villagers if we so desired!

I am pretty sure we only had 10 in NL. I would love it if they just let us add an optional 2-4 villagers on the island though. With the option to take down empty plots if we change our minds.

Really? Huh! I thought we had 12 in NL? Or 11? I could be wrong haha! It would be awesome if we could get additional villagers somehow! I hope not through DLC, but maybe through an update?

There are so many amazing villagers in this game that it's hard to not have as much of them and are limited because we can only have 1 island per console. I would totally be down with more villagers!

YEP. i also have a hoard of amiibos (and got my partner and another friend into buying them so we pool and swap). it makes letting go of villagers much easier, although i still have never felt 100% certain when i let someone go. i really need fresh faces coming through, though, so ultimately i'd rather pass on a villager to someone who has them as a dreamie than hold onto them. i don't consider any villager to be like, an ultimate dreamie. i'm ready to see someone new after a few months of even my most favorite bbs.
