I wouldn’t say I would refuse but TBT is comfortable for me so I don’t find the need to actively look elsewhere. I have traded with two people on twitter though, one who sought me out to catalog something in a photo I posted and another I wanted to help a person I followed.
After hearing enough horror stories on Twitter, I refuse to do any business elsewhere. It's far too easy for the bad eggs to blend in on Discord and Reddit's feedback system isn't that good for this kind of thing. Thankfully, the good in the community steps up to undo the bad but ideally no one should have to deal with it in the first place.
I've done a lot of trades via discord (prob over 200 by now) and I know there's been a lot of stuff said about scammers and what not but I have yet to encounter one and there has been very nice people on discord as well. Sure I believe there are a few scummy people out there, but it's so far and few in between. You can always close your game and disconnect if you feel like a scam is happening.
While this website has an awesome community, I do find it very slow moving at times especially as a seller. My preferred trading space has been discord but I still use this website to read up on latest topics and discussions.
Nookazon is pretty great coming from a vet-ish TBT member. I've only met 1/25 people that are slightly more annoying (like greed and the way they talk) but everyone else is a sweetie!!!
Recently I started trading and selling items on Nookazon. I can say that it REALLY sucks for the most part. People ghost all the time, can have strict rules about offering, constantly deny high offers in an effort to milk more out of people, price gouge, etc. I've messaged people many times letting them know I was interested in their items for sale but they usually hit me with "Just sold it, sorry. Forgot to take down the listing" and its a huge waste of my time since most of the time those people take hours or even days to get back to you. I had bad experience on there and also bad experience on TBT but I can say Nookazon may just be far worse.
before new horizon, i would do all of my trading here or tumblr, but i greatly preferred this forum because of the feedback system and the kind people here. now for new horizon, i've joined turnip exchange, nookazon, and discord as new trading sites . . . but i still do all of my trading here (and occasionally tumblr since villagers are cheaper to adopt there lol). the new platforms i joined seem so hectic and a little sus, so i don't really trade there. i just have an account for the sake of having an account. for me, tbt is a much safer and kinder community
i've honestly stopped trading in general for the most part, but belltreeforums is definitely the only place i'll trade. people are just nicer in general lmao
I love trading on here, I rarely get any bad eggs or rude people. (If I do, I leave them negative feedback and just be done with it).
This is a great place to trade, and I feel safe opening my island up to the people on here.
Recently I dappled in trading on Discord, because I finally made myself an account. So far, all has been great but it is easy to get tricked by someone on there. What I usually do is fence off my island so that they can't do any harm, other than to trade with me. That makes it easier and less stressful for me personally.
I don't go near nookazon, because the people on there are just greedy and half the time don't even trade with you. o.o
I've only ever traded Animal Crossing items here on The Bell Tree Forums. It was the first place I found back when I joined, and I like the various aspects of the site. Alternative currency in the form of TBT and a feedback system are quite nice things to have. I don't know that I'm necessarily opposed to trading anywhere else since I haven't done it, but I feel like it would come with at least a mild sense of paranoia about potential scamming, depending on what is being offered.
I love TBT's chill environment and kindness. Even if it's hard to find some of the stuff I need on here I'll always prefer it. The community is the best out of the 3.
Nookazon is like TBT for me but I find it easier to get the stuff I need. There's not a real "community" but if you're looking for an item/thing fast it's your go-to. The rating system is also handy on there and you can read other people's reviews too. I've traded with some generous people on there (2 even gave me free stuff. God bless them) and so far I haven't had any bad traders yet.
ACNH Discord could be worse, but I'm not fond of the anonymity of the place. I only have one super bad experience with it. I see people getting scammed constantly so if it can be helped I would avoid using it and instead go for Nookazon if possible. It's like discord but more reliable.
I have been very reluctant to trade outside of TBT, but I've done a handful of trades on Nookazon for things I can't find here. I think the idea is really neat, site's cool and convenient to use for the most part, but not a fan of the lack of on-site communication there. It's hit or miss if the person you want to trade with has a discord or not, and some of them don't even allow DMs from strangers lol. So that extra barrier makes it a little frustrating, but I've had pretty good experiences in the handful of trades I've done where I was able to actually talk to the seller/trader.
I do still heavily prefer TBT - I like the community aspect, and even if the concept of trading on a forum is not as streamlined as the way Nookazon is set up, I just feel safer here.
I never trade outside this forum, but my brother and his friends use other places for trading and they had a good experience! I still prefer this site, though i might consider looking eslewhere if i feel that i need something urgently and cant find it here.
i only trade with friends i know in real life or through this forum! i've had nothing but good experiences with the members here, so i don't really see a need to search elsewhere? discord/instagram/etc have never appealed to me as trading centers, so this is the best option for me
I've never ventured outside this forum to trade for this reason. I think the feedback system does a good job of holding people accountable and people seem kind/chill for the most part on here anyway.
