Announcement: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition & Free Update

The ACNH Japanese site:

I love how the guests can roam around. It's almost like it was with the GC version when we can have more than 10 villagers (8 in WW) at once.

I wonder if they will make friends with our villagers and hangout with them too.❤️
I absolutely love this new feature! I wonder if we can have multiple tourists a day strolling in our island or if it's limited to one (and the others remain at the hotel). I LOVE that they visit the stores, too!!

Wow, I didn't see this coming at all, what a surprise! 🤩

I'm not planing on getting a nintendo switch 2 any time soon, but I look forward to the free update.
Can't wait to see how the hotel works and get the new villagers / crossover stuff (love me some legend of zelda goodies)!!

New update woooooooo!!!!!

Super excited for some of the features announced here! Bulk crafting, new furniture, and increased storage alone as an update honestly would have been enough to please me so the rest feels like a bonus.

The hotel doesn't interest me a ton because as others have mentioned it's very similar to Happy Home Paradise which I haven't even finished... On the other hand slumber islands has me very interested!!! I've barely gotten to terraform anything since like 2021 because I'm happy with the layout I made and didn't want to mess with it. Slumber islands is going to finally give me more opportunity for outdoor decorating! The idea of cooperative decorating with friends is also extremely cute.

The only thing I'm maybe a little sad about is that 12 player multiplayer is limited to everyone in the session needing the Switch 2 edition because I want to be able to partake in 12 player chaos as well!

A bunch of my wishes were answered. One of my friends at my college (he sits near me, like his table is next to mine), asked if I saw the direct since he's an animal crossing nerd like me. We were both super happy and shocked at the timing, lmao.

The most convenient feature is bulk crafting. Also, having more than one island was not on my bingo card. I ideas for them, though!

Also, Cece and Viche. CECE AND VICHE. I am so adding them. If not as villagers, as hotel guests. I got my amiibos ready.

I can see why they would make 12 online be Switch 2 exclusive. Getting a full game in on the regular Switch could be a hassle. Hopefully fly-in times and the amount of players dropping will be really reduced.

And it's great that the hotel visitors can visit the actual island. I remember suggesting something like this back in the NL era and it's great to see it come to fruition. I was worried it was going to be like HHP, but having them visit your island, shops, ect will be fun. If there's more content that they didn't share in the trailer that would be awesome.

I remember when I first played WA I sat on a rock by accident and was so surprised. I'm hoping there's a lot of extra goodies they didn't reveal that we can find out and it will be a nice fun surprise!

I was thinking though, since they didn't say this will be the final update, I wonder if there will be future additions for 4.0, 5.0 ect. It makes sense they would beef this game up for their Switch 2 lineup instead of making an entire new game when they have NH sitting that they let's be frank abandoned during it's peak.

I'm a little worried that each upgrade 5.0 ect may be paid dlc. So by the end of NH's time we could be spending close to $60+ to get multiplayer back and then some. I don't want to be a debbie downer when everyone is so excited right now, but I'm still reminded how they handled NH previously.

After some thought, I must say that I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the Hotel. We already did this with Happy Home Paradise. We built vacations; we made dreams a reality. And now they're selling it back to us as if it were new. Like, I know it's supposed to be different, but instead of the Resort, it's on our island. Don't get me wrong, I am still curious and happy to check it out, but it just feels like I've seen this before with Happy Home Paradise, due to the way it was presented, with how you are just decorating for the villagers with different themes. Again, just like with Happy Home Paradise, when they ask you to create a vacation home "based on the theme." I don't mean to sound pessimistic or cynical, but again, this is stuff I've seen before, and it's just not new to me.

Let me clarify. The only difference is that the Hotel is on your island and not at the Resort. In the trailer, it is shown that villagers who move into the Hotel can actually wander around the island as "tourists," meaning they are not living permanently on the island; they are there temporarily until they decide to stay. Think of it like the Campsite, but if their stay extended for days instead of one day.

I want to see how this works. If we get villagers who used to live on our island before, will they remember us, or will it be like Happy Home Paradise, where you see them, but they don't recognize you?

This is something I worry about too. It would be great if they did continue to have a few free upgrades. But having to buy them depending on how much can add up pretty quickly.

An ACNH update announcement? In the year of our good lord 2025? It's more likely than you think.

I have not touched Animal Crossing in a good long while, I'm so excited to finally get back into it with the update!

Super excited for this. Gonna start the game over again and try to recapture the day 1 2020 feel again.

I do wish there were mini games, but they've added real games to it which is kinda the same thing, sorta, maybe.

Decorating a hotel is just the dlc but smaller scale which is a shame, but the hotel is so cool and they will roam your island. That's exciting.
And the pier will be longer meaning more room for rare fish 😀

Oh and the side/back step for teraforming. Amazing. Love it.

Looks great. Hope they do more updates now that they've revived it.

I was just wondering, since we're able to change the date of your switch, im guessing the update wouldnt happen if you do that right?
Not saying I want to get the update right now, but if people tried to change their switch date, thinking they could get the update earlier.

Nope

Wow, this is good news! I can't wait for the free update. Not sure if I'll buy the Switch 2 edition though. The features of that don't seem like ones I would use. I might buy some amiibo for the Zelda and Splatoon characters though. They look like fun. And so does the hotel.
