Whenever I created my New Leaf towns, they would all follow a certain theme, or aesthetic. I have had autumn towns, pink cherry blossom towns, and witchy, spooky towns.

For this time around, since it's on an island, I decided to make it Selkie themed! I've always loved the movie "The Secret of Roan Inish" so I am basing my island on the island from the movie. Of course, with my own witchy twist.

What's your island's theme?

My island's theme is supposed to be like a mushroom fairy forest type of theme. I need to work on it more though at some point. I need to add more mushrooms, flowers, trees, and fairy elements

honestly, my island doesn’t have a particular theme, with one exception - it’s all pink. the flowers? pink. the furniture? pink. the paths? well, they’re dirt paths, but they have pink cherry blossoms surrounding them. i think it’s an obsession.

my island is a whole lot of whatever im feeling. its kinda like my room its just a big amalgamation of things i like and i try my best to organize them. i do have this dream of making my island really aesthetic and cute, and ill try here and there, but i also like just doing random little things here and there.

as for my house however, im very committed to this old timey, very warm and cozy look. i wanted it to feel like a cabin mixed with a grandma’s house. i do not mess around with my house. its my dream house.

I always try to make my island have a theme but then I just end up redesigning it all.

At the moment I have like a floral theme with gardens all around and garden decor.

I have always wanted to make a gothic theme to match my real life aesthetic but I just can’t the game is just to cute haha 😂

i tried to combine all sorts of themes together here and there.
for example the back of my island is more intercity, with the museum and shops.
in front of it is more suburban, with 3 villagers living on the right side of a small park, and 3 of the left side of the park.
than on the left side of the island i have 1 villager living in a ''beach house'' the other more on a ''farm''
and on the right side of my island i have 2 villagers living in a house near the beach ( so not really a beach house, but close enough, he he.
and atthe airport entrance i build a walkway to town hall which is almost directly infront of it, with 2 small ''parks'' next to each side.
i also made a little playground, a volleyball beach, a children's play corner.
( now that i think about it, how i fit all of that on 1 island is beyond me. lol )

My island is a citycore theme. I haven't really been working on it too much, but when I get ideas in my head I stick with them and try my best to incorporate them the way I imagined them. Even if they didn't turn out right I improvise and more often than not it turns out better then I imagined.

One day I'll actually finish it all up for y'all TBTers to enjoy.

I'm changing it soon! Haha. I've gone through so many themes, but I really love the cottage core look. But when I did that theme, it just didn't 'feel' right, and was kind of ..cluttery?

So I'm changing it up, and going for a kind of cottage, castle, magical type of theme (ish). I hope. I wish I were better at design. I think part of the problem is that I keep changing my mind haha. ..

My first island is called cocoloco & its „tropivale”-core :) it’s a colorful mix of festivale and tropical, it’s very colorful and happy, it was the island I started with and I’m still absolutely in love.
Since this first island was sooo much work, my second island will be completely generic haha. I plan on only terraforming a little bit and just go with a cosy, but pretty generic vibe. It’s nice to have an island where you don’t pressure yourself too get something perfect :)

No theme at all. It's just whatever I think looks good.

I tend to trend towards natural wood colors on outdoor furniture.

i'm not sure if i'd call it a "theme" per se but it's primarily blue, white, black, grey, and some browns and gold/yellow in there. the seliph town if you will. i like sticking to a colour palette, it just keeps me calm and happy.

i guess it does have a bit of a castle-ish or castle-town-ish theme. i really like the statues and there's nothing really unnatural other than the hidden mario pipes so i can quickly get between places lol.

I guess... rural seaside. I like lots of trees, weeds, wheat fields, crops, and nautical items like the lighthouses and anchors. I use the furniture kind of sparsely outside

I honestly don't have a theme for my island! At most it could be considered "natural" since I have a bunch of flowers, trees, and crops, and also bug and fish models all over the place, though there's definitely some odd things here and there. I never really went into Animal Crossing: New Horizons having a plan for my island in mind (which is basically the case for all the other Animal Crossing games, lmao), so it's basically just whatever I felt like doing (and had to do) to turn my island into a 5 star island, lol.

That's awesome. My second town is a selkie theme based on the story of Kopakonan. It's a horror based town surrounding the selkie wife's curse and a work in progress still. :)

My main town is just asian themed to hoard my love for all the asian food items lol.

I misread the thread title. 😭 I don't have a concrete theme for my island, but I have a few decorated areas with urban cafes, parks, etc. My 2nd island is a cat-themed island, but I haven't played enough to even get past the tutorial. XD

I don't know why I made it so serious, but my theme was gonna be a modern city (citycore?) on one side and a socialist faction for runaways on the other side. But I only really worked on the runaway side lol

I am still working on mine. The bottom half of the island is based on a beach boardwalk amusement park I grew up going to every summer in Santa Cruz. Rides mostly to the right, shops to the left. A music venue for the Drifters to play "Under the Boardwalk". And of course lounging on the beach.

I am not sure where I will take it after that, but I am enjoying having a theme to build on for a while!

The rest of my island will probably be cowboys and pirates. Possibly together lol

My island's theme is Japanese/zen themed. Since I restarted only last year in December, I feel I haven't progressed too much. I have access to HHP, which gives me good zen stuff like the torii, samurai suit in multiple colours and the pine tree. I also have the zen fence and a variety of other zen DIYs like the deer scare, garden rock and other bamboo DIYs. Its growing a lot more than expected but I am really aiming for Sakura season and looking around for some patterns online for paper lanterns. I am also on the hunt for Japanese/Asian inspired villagers, which will take some time. My goal is to have a fully-functional zen themed island by December.

My island is fairy themed with a mushroom forest. So far, I've obtained most of the DIY recipes I need for my theme, such as the mush lamp and hence do not plan on resetting my island. I plan on terraforming soon to add some depth and I'll probably decorate the beaches with some mermaid series items. Hopefully by the end of next year, I'll finish my whimsical fairy-core island.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but my island doesn't have a theme. I haven't really added anything other than trees, flowers and some basic DIYs. I'm not really good at design so that's not my goal when I play Animal Crossing - I just like catching bugs & fish and talking to villagers.
