Pokémon What Starter Did You Pick in Each Region?

My mom prohibited me from watching Pokemon or owning anything Pokemon related during the whole "Pokemon is demonic" phase of the early 2000s. As a result, there's a lot that I missed out on.
Gen 5: Tepig (White) and Oshwatt (White 2)
Gen 6: Fennekin and Torchic (ORAS)
Gen 7: Litten
Gen 8: Skipped, but Scorbunny would've been my choice

Generation 1: Bulbasaur (my favourite starter from all the generations)
Generation 2: Chikorita
Generation 3: Mudkip
Generation 4: Piplup (favourite water starter pokemon)
Generation 5: Oshawott
Generation 6: Froakie (honestly not a massive fan of any of the starters in this gen)
Generation 7: Popplio
Generation 8: Scorbunny (never seem to choose the fire starter but I love rabbits so was instantly drawn to Scorbunny when I saw all the starters)

I’m mostly drawn to the water type starters as I really like aquatic animals in general so usually like their designs best.

I’ve always had a tendency to go with whatever starter that looks best to me. It’s always worked out well for me for my team building it around the starter that I like. Here’s what I’ve chose or would of chosen. I never played generation one and two, but I’ll list them anyway.

Hm... looking at my selection I am a little lot biased towards fire types. It's maybe to do with why I choose the "red" verion of each game as well? (Red, Gold, Ruby, Firered,Pearl, Sun, Shield).

For Legends Arceus, I would choose Oshawott. Choosing Cyndaquil would be pure betrayal to Totodile for me, and I can’t bring myself to do that. I’ll probably hold out for Johto remakes, which I do foresee happening in the near future.

Fire Red (10 years later): Bulbasaur again lmao

as a kid I was partial to grass type starters but in later gens I started to like the others more. here's what I would pick for the other games:

GSC/HGSS: Totodile
BW/B2W2: Oshawott
XY: Fennekin
SWSH: Scorbunny
Diamond Remake: prob turtwig again lol
Legends Arceus: Oshawott

my favorite starters of all time are bulbasaur, oshawott, and fennekin

Here are the starters I chose my very first time playing each generation of Pokémon:

• Gen 1 - Squirtle
• Gen 2 - Cyndaquil
• Gen 3 - Torchic
• Gen 4 - Piplup
• Gen 5 - Oshawott

• Gen 7 - Litten
• Gen 8 - I skipped this Gen because of how abysmal the games are, but if given the choice I'd pick Grookey

Now, whenever I replay the games I tend to lean toward these starters instead:

• Gen 1 - Bulbasaur
• Gen 2 - Chikorita
• Gen 3 - Treecko
• Gen 4 - Turtwig
• Gen 5 - Oshawott (I love him too much)
• Gen 6 - Froakie
• Gen 7 - Litten is still ma boi
• Gen 8 - I'd still go for Grookey had Gen 8 been handled better

I favor grass starters because they learn support moves such as Leech Seed and Poison Powder. I like the ability to heal in-battle with moves like Mega Drain, plus grass starters are the most adorable to me, besides Snivy. The only reason I'd pick Snivy at all is because Serperior is amazing and I love its design. In general, I have a fondness for snakes/lizards/frogs/turtles, hence why I always want Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko and Turtwig as my starters.

Gen 5: I honestly don’t remember. I am pretty sure that I played it. If I were to play a gen 5 game now, I’d pick Oshawott. I like its design the best
Gen 6: I can’t remember. I may have picked Fennekin. I probably would pick it again or Chespin if I played the game now.
Gen 7: Didn’t play. I’d pick litten but I do not like its final evolution.
Gen 8: Also didn’t play. I’d pick Grookey or Scorbunny (probably scorbunny).
