Here is the complete list of returning villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Nintendo yesterday confirmed two things, enabling us to draw a complete list of Animal Crossing villagers returning to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Up to this point I had maintained a list of confirmed villagers, but new information given to us since yesterday's Direct made it possible to draw a complete list. So here are the new information that enables me to do so:

1. There was an amiibo chart compatibility published on the Japanese AC website. To cut it short, all the villagers included in the Animal Crossing amiibo cards of Series 1-4 and Welcome Amiibo are compatible and can be scanned in game to get posters, but can also be invited over in your island's campground (and eventually move in).
2. On Twitter, all the official Animal Crossing accounts ran by Nintendo employees over the world said 383 villagers would be returning in New Horizons this morning.
3. Note : It's only a list of returning villagers, and it does not include the new villagers we have seen in the latest Direct. Those do not count in the 383 returning villagers countdown.

So it’s clear that ALL the villagers from New Leaf will return.

Kinda makes me think how many new and returning GameCube/e+ villagers there will be. And if I had to guess, I’d say:

The amount of New Villagers: 100. Just like New Leaf

The amount of returning GameCube/e+ Villagers: 50. Again, just like New Leaf with the update.

Of course there could be more villagers with future updates.

I'm going to be a bit conservative and guess that the total amount of villagers on day 1 will be around 410-440. I don't know if we'll get more with updates or not, but it wouldn't shock me if there weren't an overabundance of newcomers based on the fact we've barely seen any.
