Do you squish or kill bugs?

I have a fear of most bugs, despite the majority of the ones around me been small and harmless so I should really be fine with them, so I could never really get close enough to the majority to squash them which works with me - I can come to an understanding with small spiders that they can stay and any bigger ones I get someone else to put outside. Flies and small moths I’ll try and guide out a window, anything bigger again goes to someone else. There’s often at least one person at home who’s good at placing the insects outside so it suits us all - main exception that comes to mind is wasps, fortunately we don’t usually get them indoors but most of us are bad with them so the odd one that comes in does more often then not meet the wasp spray.

depends on the size of the bug but lately i've been defaulting to squishing them :(

i have arachnophobia and i'd worked my way up to being able to capture little spiders instead of releasing them, but lately i've been more phobic and i end up instant squishing them... :(

I generally try to escort them outdoors to the best of my ability, unless it's maybe like a spider that made itself a little home in the corner. then I just leave be

though some like ants are just not feasibly possible to do, unfortunetely

No, unless they're somehow dangerous to me or my pets or something, and I try to be quick and humane. Killing animals just because you don't like the way they look is really immature and self-centered. Just put them outside or something idk.

Spiders aren't dangerous where Iive so I let them hang out and eat any pesky bugs I'd rather not deal with.

yes, i have to kill bugs as i live in the woods. i feel slightly bad sometimes if they were minding their own business, but we’ve had multiple infestations so i can’t take a chance leaving them alive. certain bugs i’ll just catch and put outside, but ants and spiders have to go.

every now and then there’s this huge spider cricket that shows up in the basement (idk where they come from) and those things are terrifying to have to kill. they literally jump at you waist high.

isn't squishing & killing them the same? Anyway, I leave bugs alone if they are outside. Inside, I will leave them be as long as they aren't annoying / bothering me. Mosquitoes I will kill on site with no mercy. The same goes for the majority of spiders, or at least the ones that are poisonous. Gnats & flies are ok unless they fly into my face / glasses.

in a perfect world i would capture and release the bugs i stumble across in my home but alas... i can't go to bed knowing they're loose in my room so they have to go...
when they're near my pc and desk... tissue in hand and i just have to swat at them, if they perish then they perish 😌

if they're small then i can manage on my own but if they're the big ones, i must call backup and get my dad to do it </3

I usually leave bugs alone with the exception being mosquitoes. Mosquitoes will literally eat me alive, even with repellant so I have to smack them if they start to feed on me. Even spiders, which I'm very much afraid of (unless they're jumping spiders or tarantulas haha), I try not to harm. In that case, my crying from fear will usually alert my dad or my fiancé who will promptly escort it outdoors.

Earlier this week, I was sitting in my living room when I heard a buzzing sound against the window. So I went over to check it out and found a huge hornet desperately trying to get out. I grabbed a plastic container and trapped it against the glass. When it finally settled down, I was able to slip a lid on top and release it outside.

I couldn't even imagine killing it. It was really quite beautiful.

I usually don't kill them, unless there is an infestation, like fleas, ants, cereal moths, mealy bugs and they are a nuisance or dangerous like ticks. I let spiders alone, they control the other bugs. In summer, I escort everybuggy outside and in winter I let spiders run free in the basement...without telling my mom who would kill them and me probably. And those ungrateful creatures all bite me! And sometimes I have allergic reaction to bug bites but I still let them be.

i usually hoover up thin small-medium sized spiders. if it's a thicc legged spoober that looks sus then i'll get my parents to take it outside or flush it down the loo

mosquitos-wise, usually whack them with something because i don't want deceased bug on my hands

i'm waging a war against aphids + their eggs on my ivy plant because i want him to survive and prosper. my success is for the greater good

Only if they're invasive or will cause harm. I've had several spider roommates that I've grown fond of, and allow most spiders to stay in the house until they reach a certain size. I still value my personal space tho, so anything that might crawl on me is going out of the house.

I tend to dislike people who kill without thinking, because they're the very opposite of the people I value most, those who are kind even when there's no direct reward/reasoning for being so. Also, even as someone who is easily startled and finds a lot of bugs squicky, it's gotten easier with every instance I've escorted them out, so I don't feel like fear is a good excuse. That's just my opinion!

It depends on the bug. Spiders and ladybugs are escorted back outside via a paper towel or paper/plastic cup. We try to escort flies back outside when they get in during the summer by opening a window or the balcony door, but we’re not always successful and we end up having to squish them. Ants, centipedes, earwigs and cockroaches get squished. We occasionally have some kind of brown beetle get in during the fall, and those get squished as well.

Bugs thankfully haven’t been a huge or frequent problem in my apartment, though. The worst we’ve had to deal with are a few small red ant infestations over the past decade and a half, which weren’t great, but I’ll take small red ants over cockroaches or any other kind of invasive bug any day. For the most part though, we only really get the occasional spider, fly, ladybug and brown beetle.

We can’t keep any bug in here, harmless/beneficial or not, because if Bonk sees it, she won’t leave it alone until she kills it. We’d much rather safely escort the bug back outside or quickly and humanely squish it than have Bonk get her paws on it and eat it or slowly kill it. I also just don’t feel comfortable having bugs loose in my home, even cute ones like ladybugs or beneficial ones like spiders.

If I can't get the bug outside easily then sorry but it's getting squished. I don't feel good about it but I also don't want a bug in my house.

I'm generally too scared to kill any bug or spider, so I just hope they eventually leave lol. I will move them outside if I have to. We have had an influx of praying mantises lately and I absolutely cannot kill them buy they also give me the creepy crawlies so they get put outside lol
