THIS IS JUST A POST EXPRESSING AN ABSTRACT AND INHUMANELY EXASPERATED EXPRESSION OF EXCITEMENT FOR THE LATEST EPISODE AND POSSIBLY JUST A TOPIC THREAD FOR YURI ON ICE IN GENERAL please do not talk about whether or whether you do not watch the show, i don't care lmao. if you have seen it/like it and want to freak out over it then by all means be my GUEST

I actually came to this part of the forum tonight to see if anyone in the anime thread was talking about YOI (seems the anime thread dies from time to time);
I just finished the last episode;
(Spoilers below)
So it seems like there'll be a second season for sure, and I'd like to think that this may be one of those cases where an anime does better in it's second season because you've got the initial job of establishing the character and setting out of the way so you can do some really good things with the story and whatnot. I feel like that happens with a fair amount of anime; so while I certainly didn't dislike YOI, the ending left me wanting a little bit more at least as far as development with Victor and Yuri's relationship (which a second season will probably work on); I did enjoy their duet skate at the end.
I also thought it was cool that Yuri P. won overall; It was really nice for Yuri K. to hold 1st place most of the Final to have Yuri P. take it at the end; I still need to spend a little more time thinking about what Victor will proceed to do and what his relationship even just in terms of skating will be like with Yuri in the future.
Overall I enjoyed this series and I'm glad I jumped on with it.

I'm trying to avoid it (incredibly hard) because of how over-hyped it's been but...who knows, maybe I'll get involved in the series lmao. Idk if it's worth it though ;;

I'm often the same; I felt YOI was different enough for me to check out (I do enjoy things with predominately male casts as well)
The way it ends definitely leaves it open for a second season which they seem pretty sure of already. I thought it was genuinely pretty good, the skating is pretty cool to watch and I like the main characters. Ultimately whether or not you get into it and enjoy it is completely up to you, but, while I don't like overhyped things myself, I think this show is still worth a watch; I wouldn't give it much of anything higher than an 8 out of 10 (there are some pretty enjoyable scenes as well as scenes that are just nice to look at) and now you can watch the whole series in around 6 hours; you'll probably find something you like if you consider watching it, but it's not the end of the world either if it ends up not being your cup of tea. It certainly isn't 'favorite anime material' for me, myself, but I'm glad I watched it and I looked forward to the new episodes each week.
{That's just my input! c:)

Loved it and enjoyed it so hard. I've never felt that much for an anime till this one. I especially loved how easy it was to relate to Yuuri. I also enjoyed the series because I had friends to gush over it with. On a separate but on topic note, I'm hopefully going to be cosplaying Yuuri next year :)

Is it a good show? I've heard good things about it but ehh haven't really gotten around to checking it out.

It's an amazing show, I definitely recommend it. Everything about it is likable.

all the fandom sexualizes everything which makes me super uncomfortable lol (just like with anything that gets overly sexualized)
other than that it's probably an okay show just a gross fandom

by overly sexualizing I mean fetishizing male gay relationships by calling it "sin" and other related activities

it's just any other anime

I was interested in it when I saw the name until I saw it wasn't even yuri, it was yaoi bait a giant sausage fest. Do not want.

Call me when they make Yaoi on Fire!

It's not your place to tell someone whether or not they're allowed to post on a specific thread, regardless of who created it. As long as a post isn't rude or breaks one of the Forums Rules, they're more than welcome to post in this thread, even if it's against your wishes, and not what you want the thread to be used for. Providing their posts are related to the show in some way, it's perfectly fine for them to say whether or not they watch the show.

I wasn't expecting much of it when I first heard of it, but I've been hooked from the fist episode and had lot of fun watching it.
It's funny that some people though it was in the yuri genre, when the plot and preview just showed guys...anyway.
The last episode was just as I predicted...apart the very end. We were joking about pair skating but I didn't think they would have the guts to do it. XD

I liked the backgrounds and animation a lot in the first episodes but the drawings lost in quality toward the end. I hope they will improve in the DVD.

yuuri on ice killed crunchyroll and forced me to wait a near entire day to watch the latest eupho 2 ep, it's on my ****list now

but seriously, I'll maybe* check it at some point. production basically doing the maximum level of going up in flames without actually being forced into a delay for airing aside, I am at least mildly interested.

*provided someone/thing puts up subbed BD corrected episodes, since it's not a show I'd be willing to blind import, and I refuse to give FUNimation a single cent

I really loved it! It may not be one of the best anime, but it's definitely a favorite of mine regardless! I especially loved the soundtrack, it's beautiful. "Yuri on Ice" (yuri's free skate song) is so good!

Also about the last episode...
I'm really salty that Yuuri didn't win gold, but I was really happy to see that he wasn't upset that he didn't win it. (like the previous grand prix final) I guess I understand why they didn't make him win since they need to put out another season.
I think they basically fixed everything when they showed the couple skate between Yuuri and Viktor! I was also really hoping for an unsensored kiss but... I guess that was just wishful thinking.

All in all I thought it was a cute anime, and was really different. I think the characters were really good in this anime too, most were likeable. and with that I say, IT'S. JJ STYLEEEEEEE.

tried it, disliked it
never liked teacher/student relationships that go that far, plus the figure skating parts made me wince
just another sports anime with !!!!! at the end of the title
someone answer me this - if they were a straight couple instead of a gay couple would anyone care about the show? ive always got the feeling people watch it because "lol yaoi on ice XD gay boys"

i would :o i actually started watching it with no prior knowledge when ep 1 came out, and i was hooked right from the start. besides, i think the fujoshi types would get bored? instead of focusing on MMM ITS SO GAY IM SO SINFUL it portrayed a good and healthy relationship between two people.
