We all have the ability to ignore other members. But if you’re curious on what it can do and what it can’t do, the facts are listed in this post.
For a reminder, in order to add someone to your ignore list, you click on their profile or their username, click “ignore”, and there, the user and its posts vanishes from your view. That way, you can’t see what they written or what they have in their avatar or signature.
However, the feature is more of an “ignore” than a “block”. Here’s what can happen or can’t happen:

However, the feature is more of an “ignore” than a “block”. Here’s what can happen or can’t happen:
- Users on your ignore list can still post on your profile, quote you on the forums, mention you, or react to your posts. You just won’t get a notification if they do. Also, you can’t see their posts on your profile. To see their posts, you must click on “show ignored content”.
- Users on your ignore list can still send you TBT Bells and collectibles. You just won’t get a notification if you receive these gifts. On the flip-side, you can also send TBT or collectibles to users on your ignore list.
- Users on your ignore list can start a DM with you. But the DM topic will not appear in your inbox, even after you remove them from your list.
- When you read a list of everyone who reacted to the same post, users on your ignore list will still appear as if you haven’t ignored them. You can also see their names when you click on poll results, in others’ followers/following lists, or the active members list.
- However, if someone is on your ignore list, their posts will not show up on the threads, and any quotes you see from these users will read as “ignored content”. You can click on the hidden “show ignored content” at the bottom, and their posts will appear, along with the “you are ignoring this user” at the beginning of the message.
- If the user on your ignore list started a thread, ignoring the user will also make their thread disappear from the forums unless if you click the “show ignored content” at the bottom.
- If you search for posts made by an ignored user, the posts will be hidden in your search results, unless if you choose to unhide the posts.
- If a user on your ignore list was the latest poster in a thread, the username of the last poster is “ignored member”.
- Ignoring another member will not prevent them from seeing your posts or your name anywhere. It’s not like Facebook where blocking others not just hides all of their content, but also hides your content from them.
- Ignoring another member can’t stop them from posting on your profile, look up activity, or visit your profile. However, you can change your privileges to make it only those you follow can do all that. There’s also no way (as of now) where you can change your privileges that would stop ignored users from visiting your profile or posting on it.
- Ignoring a member doesn’t automatically unfollow members. You’ll have to manually do that.
- Ignoring a member on the forums doesn’t automatically block them on Discord either, even if your account is linked. You’ll have to manually do that.
- You cannot add staff members to your ignore list.
