In New Leaf, my town is Woodtick, because that's what I named my town in City Folk, and I couldn't think of a new name on the spot when my sister surprised me with the game for my birthday.
I named it Woodtick in City Folk because my friend was over with my copy of Wild World and her DS (she was borrowing the game, and the top screen on my DS had cracked and wasn't fixed yet) so I could transfer my character, and I was once again (once before?) on the spot, caught without a name already in mind. I had been playing a lot of Monkey Island at the time, and Woodtick is the name of the pirate town on Scabb Island in Monkey Island 2.
And why was I on the spot with City Folk? Because I couldn't use the name I'd used in the previous two games. When I got Animal Crossing, I had a group of online friends. We called ourselves Bad Comic Corner, after the name of our first AOL chat together. I named my Animal Crossing town B.C.C. When I got Wild World, I named my town BCC II. When I got City Folk, I'd had a messy falling out with those friends, so I was left to scrounge for a new name. Thus, I picked the name of the pirate town with the awesome music.
