...Or have you already? And by real money, I mean big dollaroonies. Spending $6 on a pack of amiibo cards doesn't count. I'm talking like.. $20+ on one singular amiibo card, or $40+ on a mystery pack. Recently, I was browsing Amazon and Ebay looking for your basic mystery Amiibo card packs (which ended up being $30+ so I was like Nah :tm: immediately), when I stumbled upon some singular amiibo cards of certain villagers ranging from $20-$88. Wild.

So, would you be willing to pay big bucks for your faves? I personally would not. If you would, what's your price range? If you already have, do you regret it? Are you totally stoked?

Also: Is this a new thing? Have Amiibo cards always been this expensive to get (even mystery packs) or are people just raising their prices because the cards are in high demand and we're in the middle of a pandemic? Amiibo cards are like.. The toilet paper of the gaming world right now: You can't find 'em, and when you do, they're super expensive. (though.. toilet paper is a bit more of a necessity than amiibo. But you get my point)

I would possibly consider it if I have tried my hardest and failed after a long period of time.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Personally I wouldn't.

With dreamies I always had the ideology that if I want someone so bad I WILL eventually get them in my town/on my island. I can be spending that money on something more important.

The cards were never this expensive when they first came out. Unfortunately Nintendo stopped producing new packs so the ones that are out are the only ones in existence right now... If you want an amiibo just to get them on your island, there are plenty of people on etsy selling custom-made amiibo for $5 each regardless of who it is!

Nope. I personally think that if an amiibo card is over 15 bucks its not worth it. I'd rather get Coco or Lucky naturally than pay over 20 dollars for them.
I can get them in game over time, it doesn't matter to me if I don't them now or even ever, I think paying real money for villagers is silly - especially WHEN you can still get them naturally.

no and never

Oooh, so that's what happened. That's so.. Why?? Why would they stop making them? Not that I'm surprised. But yes, I've looked on Etsy at amiibos, too! I feel distressed for those sellers right now: I'm sure they're being overrun with requests!

Yeah, I agree with this! Especially with NMT and islands being a thing, its a tad easier to find the ones you really like without having to scour forums/threads looking for them or paying real money. Good point, friend :)

I was looking at some amiibo cards on eBay for two villagers. The total would equate to be $27 if I could find a decent price but ultimately, I said nah.

It just seems.. unnecessary? I'm all for spending money on in-game items but I feel like the prices are so janky now.

It won't kill me to wait.

Not sure honestly? The cards were originally made for Happy Home Designer and I think they came out before the Welcome Amiibo update in ACNL... Then I think shortly after that is when they stopped developing/producing them. Probably because this is the first new AC game in about 8 years? Hopefully they start making them again, at least making a new series for all the new NPCs and villagers!

My friend is a new seller on etsy for custom amiibo and in 24 hours she got a total of about 150 orders!! And that doesn't even count the orders with MULTIPLE villagers in it. They're super easy to make and they're cheaper than the alternative, so if you aren't looking into collecting the actual cards themselves I don't see a reason to spend $50 on a Marshall card when I can buy a coin from my friend for $7 lol

I don't think I'd spend over $20, but I would and have spent money on amiibo's etc. Before the game launched I got bootleg NFC villager stickers, $5 for 5 villagers on eBay, knowing that they'd sky rocket once the game was released.

Honestly worth it for me. I don't like to grind hours or refreshing in hopes that the randomization will give me who I want. I know that's part of the fun for some people, but not how I play. And I've spent more than that on things I cared less about, so it's all relative.

Nah, I love the amiibo cards themselves though. I made some smash bros NFC cards though, and I might do the same to get a couple of dreamies. It's much cheaper and easy to do.

if there was a villager that i absolutely madly wanted, then i probably would, but even then my upper price limit would probably be 20 dollars. and that's stretching it.

beau can wait until i have enough nook miles lmao

I caved and bought 2 amiibo coins off of Etsy, since I was having no luck with mystery islands at all and auctions seem kind of rough
I think I paid $20 for two different amiibos, which isn’t too bad in my opinion since a lot of people were selling them for way more. I was going to buy items to make cards myself, but it didn’t seem worth it since at the moment I’m only interested in two villagers

I've paid like $5 for amiibo cards of characters I want, but that's it, i would never go to the extremes that some people do lol
ie; I'd really like Raymond, but I saw him go for over $100 on ebay and that is absolutely INSANE imo

They've always been pretty high from what I remember. I have bought 2 specific villager amiibo cards. This was a year before NH was revealed. I think I bought Kyle for $15-21 and Felicity for $8-11. I don't remember their exact price, but they were much cheaper than the popular characters like Marshal and Bob.

I rather buy them through amiibo cards than giving someone that has them in boxes irl currency like many people have been doing with Raymond. At least with the amiibos you're guaranteed them being usable for the next game installment (NL to NH for example), and whenever you restart your town/island.

Those are the only villagers I'd pay for an official card for though. I love those characters and it's the closest thing to specific merchandise for them. If I want anyone else, I'd just order bootlegs off of etsy whenever they're back up and running.

I wouldn't pay those ridiculous ebay prices >$20 but I have paid for some fan-made nfc amiibos off of etsy and those were $10 each.
Before ACNH came out I had bought Marshal and Stitches off ebay for like $20 each...now they're $80+. Outrageous!

Like a lot of others have said, I spent money on Amiibo cards to get every single one of my dreamies. Granted, other than Molly, Merengue, and Stitches, mine aren't highly sought after, so I didn't spend a lot, but I still spent.

Thankfully, it was well before the game released, and well before demand exceeded supply.

If there's someone I really want, I'm down to grind as much as I can to get them. But if it's been rounds and rounds of NMT without success, I might think about it. Realistically though, I probably still wouldn't go through with it though cause my brain is wired to hate paying for shipping haha
