If you could talk to yourself pre-release of New Horizons, what kinds of advice would you give? What do you wish you had done differently with the game and with how you have played it?

If it were me, I would tell myself to not stress so much about finding certain villagers so quickly. I had the mindset that I could not enjoy the game until I had a certain group of villagers, and looking back it was silly because I'm not sure I have the play style that wants permanent villagers forever as I like meeting new ones from time to time. I also didn't really take everything else in because I was so focused on grinding for Nook Miles tickets to go island hopping.

I'm curious to hear everyone else's advice to themselves!

I would’ve given myself a better map and name, but so far I’m content with what I have because of terraforming and it changed my island.

I think I would’ve told myself to just look up guides instead of just trying to figure out everything myself... I also wastefully spent my Nook Miles on tickets and took trips for fun before realizing that 98% of my islands were going to be super lame and that Nook Miles were going to end up being pretty valuable...

Mass precraft all the flimsy tools from day one and dump them where you usually break them, don't put villager houses so far apart, take more breaks for sleep...

Oh, that brings up a good point I'd like to point out to my pre-New Horizons self:

When you have no more plots available to sell or your island is full, you won’t see any villagers on NMT islands.

That advice would have saved me 20 or so tickets right there.

Don't build all the houses Nook asks you to build on the same day.... The result will be getting 2 random villagers moving in...... ;-;
This. I would tell myself to keep up island hopping to fill that last spot before Agent S moved in.

.... you can do this?........ Oh my god guess I'll just go cry in a corner now ;-;

Yeah, I learned it the hard way before quickly resetting in the first 3 days. I had found Bob but then ended up with 2 villagers I absolutely didn’t want. I reset for other reasons, though.

In my second and current island I found all three villagers before putting down the plots and they all moved in one at a time. :)

Man... I could have picked a Peppy and Normal of my choice at the start.... Well not 'picked' but a whole lot easier than having to deal with all the other personalities. Peppy and Normal are my favorite personalities!
