I have a surf shop set up by my pier, which was great during the summer/early fall. I don't want to keep it up through the colder months, but I'm stuck on how to make it usable and not just dead space until next year.

It fills the area nicely, so I'd rather redecorate it than tear it down and put everything in storage (I'll be doing that with the surfboards and decorations, as it is). Any southern hemisphere folks who can share what they did with winter beach stalls? I thought maybe ice fishing, but I don't have anything to use for that, plus the ocean won't freeze.

Any ideas are appreciated, no matter how far out there they may be. :)

I didn't really do specific seasonal stalls during winter, I'm gunning it for summer, haha.

But the villagers start to drink soup, so you can maybe make a soup kettle/hot meals stall?

Oh and maybe utilize the frozen treats, idk.

You could use the coffee cup in place of hot chocolate. <: Nothing like a cup of hot cocoa in the winter!

Thank you, both! Now I'm thinking maybe mulled cider/hot cocoa and soups would be nice. I still have the cooler and fishing rods on the pier, so it could be a bit of a warming station.

To the Design Board!

Maybe a gloves and hat stand; coffee and cider stand; hot soup stand; Christmas toy donation stand; snowflake stand; a small pumpkin patch/Christmas tree farm stand ? :]

Outdoor ice bar! You could offer some frozen treats and even display mugs/coffee machines for a little hot cocoa setup too. If you used some ice furniture and an icy design on the stall I bet it would look really cool!

Of course you could also alter the surf shop to have winter clothes displayed as well. My friend and I both have surf shops and she's planning on doing a costume shop there for Halloween and then displaying winter clothes towards the holidays!

I did a tea stall :)
You could also do coffee, soup, or one that sells warm clothes like beanies

If you celebrate Christmas, you could make a stand for buying trees...plant some cedar nearby, add some wooden signs, illuminated trees, festive trees, etc. Combine that with the coffee/cocoa idea and have a stand that sells trees and cocoa...

Definitely hot chocolate at your stall would be cute and add the tray with the marshmallows. Maybe a mini campfire ? and lots of blankets and pillows everywhere :)

Have you ever seen the Christmas markets in Europe or chicago? It would be absolutely amazing if you recreated that set up! They usually have little stalls selling holiday goods like ornaments and trinkets, but they also have a ton of food stalls! There’s hot cider, hot cocoa, bratwurst, soup, ahhh you name it. (Thinking about it makes me drool) sadly this year I won’t be going due to the pandemic!
There’s also a ton of lights and trees set up and decorated at the market, you could throw some of those in too ^^

I just saw this, and I love the idea! The area with the stall I was looking to change is in another part of my island, but in front of RS, along my "main street", I have a boardwalk above the beach. I am totally going to figure out something along these lines. Thank you!

I loooove the idea of having stalls for warm treats; soup, tea, hot chocolate, etc. Maybe an arts n crafts station on the beach where they could make their own holiday decorations? Display ornaments/winter clothes/other winter decorations and have a table with a sewing kit, modeling clay, etc with the clay furnace somewhere nearby.

Love these ideas! Besides the ones mentioned above, you could have candles and pottery items, such as Mom's candle set + aroma pot + golden dishes. I see a lot of holiday-scented candles and holiday dinnerware sets irl during the winter. Maybe a record player and record box for holiday music + film-projector for indoor movie nights. You could also do a toy shop - there are so many items that fit, such as nutcracker, Aries rocking chair, dolly, board games, train set, and wooden-block toys. Maybe a fortune-telling stall?
