I am honestly curious about this. I know there are a lot of people who time travel on here. I know I am one of them, though some days I swear up and down I am against it. I guess I am a fence rider on the matter. I want to know why some of you travel, though. I also want to know why a lot of you don't travel. Is it a pain for you? Do you feel like you're cheating? I am not bashing in anyway, I respect those who have the will and patience to take it day by day. I think if I acquire another copy of the game, I will try to not time travel, and take the one year town challenge. So, let's see some answers!

I do time travel day by day in my second copy but I always make sure to check to see if somebody pings.
I TT in my main copy at least a few hours difference, mostly when its 3am, everyone is sleeping, and I just have enough time to tinker around in my town. I will push the clock ahead to about 11am the next day.

I do time travel because sometimes I just want plants to grow faster but I do not time travel very far in fear of losing one of my villagers

I time travel. On paper there's more benefits to TTing to how I play / earn money than not TTing. Not TTing for me just isn't enjoyable at certain times since most of the time I'm playing after 9 PM or before 7 AM.

I used to be an avid TTer, because I'm very impatient and I like to progress in my games. Now I've stopped TTing, because I've never actually played the game day by day, utilizing the real time clock. I guess I just want to play it the way I never did before.

I am learning to be a little more careful with time travelling because I have knocked some of my favorite villagers out of my town, and it is really upsetting. I like the idea of travelling just to make flowers grow. I am mainly travelling people out of my town at the moment, so I am doing it day by day to be careful, and to see when I have a camper in hopes it might be Muffy.

only under certain circumstances, such as adopting a new villager while one of my villagers are in boxes. other than that i rarely tt because i like playing by day. losing a villager is also a big fear too

when i first restarted my town i would time travel at least two or three days so i could get everything upgraded and be able to do more since i got bored very quickly. there's only so much you can buy at nookling junction... now i rarely do it, and if i do i might time travel a few hours ahead when i'm impatient to get things i catalogued in the mail or when i want my trees/bushes to grow. i always make sure to talk to my villagers and water my flowers for every day i TT, i don't want to lose my villagers or hybrids. :C

used to do day-day (around 10 times in one day, going one day after the other) and it got to the point I'd do on april fools while everyone was on christmas and it was boring

The truest thing ever posted in this thread. I am in March at the moment. D: I want to go back to my days, but I travel so much trying to move villagers, it is a pain.

I've done both.

Right now I'm not though, if only for the sake of following the OYC rules. They both have their strengths and weaknessses.

Time traveling has instant gratification. A lot of times finding something to do when their isn't much left to do in a day get's boring thus it makes sense to just speed up in time. However, I've found that I've gotten bored of Animal Crossing games as a whole much quicker with this route.

Not time traveling is fun too because you always have that desire to see what's new today. But there's only so much you can do in one day and this is really a pain at the start when there's barely anything to do.

I do/don't.
I don't want to, but I also want to get the island unlocked faster.
Currently, I time travel throughout the day. Usually I'm not able to play until around 11 pm. So, I set the time earlier. So, that I can actually play. I've also got my town set on October 16, 2014. Started it on October 15th (yesterday, actually). I usually miss out on all the stuff of October and November, because by then I'm taking a break. So, I decided to start in there.
I don't like to to time travel by days, though, because it just doesn't seem as fun, to me...After a while, I feel like it just becomes so mundane. So, I reset and the vicious cycle continues. I'm hoping if I actually play day by day, with out time travelling that I'll be able to maintain my interest.

Oh yes, I do Time Travel.

I used to TT when I was doing plot resets, dreamies, and whatnot; now, it's because I play at very odd times of the day (like 2AM or 7AM, when nothing really happens).

Otherwise, I leave my clock alone and play regularly.

I TT'd for the first time today... I needed Frank to move out. His house was in a really bad place to begin with, and my son who also plays wanted a 10th, so I decided to get him out asap... I found it quite boring to be honest and was glad when he was finally out so I could skip back to today's date.

Although I do have the urge to skip a little, to see who turns up in my campsite...

I used to quite a bit to catch up when i reset (started my game on November 1st in game time and December 31st real time). I had some villagers with holders so i had to TT them all back in anyway, I then caught up to real time and now I no longer TT unless it's for plot resetting to the next day, to get my mail or for a shop to be open a bit longer.

I TT. I go on to the next day, do my thing, than the next day. I accomplish more by doing this. Im in april already, and I got it on Christmas.

Then*

I did quite a lot, only for Villagers to move in and out to make room, but then I thought why need the instant gratification for? so I stopped and reseted. I'll treat this as a little bit a day game :) also to those who play at odd hours see if night owl or early bird ordinance could help out.

I think overall everyone will probably end up playing the same amount of hours. TT would mean you play a lot more in a day and no TT would mean you play a little bit over many days. It's up to the player to choose the play style they enjoy most.

I only time traveled once to plot reset, and it was only back about 6 hours, and then ahead 6 hours once the plot was set. I don't like to actually time travel days at a time because I
1. Don't want to accidentally lose a dreamie
2. I want to play the game day-by-day as it was intended.
I feel like TT is kind of cheating that (and maybe I'm a hypocrite for saying that while plot resetting, but I only did so to prevent my paths and certain areas from being ruined)

I am a time traveler, and I time traveled a lot to complete my town of StarFall in two months (including museum donations).

I know some people don't like time traveling and won't do it, but I don't like the people who complain about time travelers on the trading boards. Some people think that time travelers are ruining the game by getting holiday items too early. Time traveling isn't ruining the game at all. In fact, it's okay to transfer items obtained from time traveling on the trading boards.

Nintendo did intend to put in Time Traveling as a feature in ACNL, but they didn't intend to have people use that feature for time traveling. It's still funny that people still abuse that feature. I don't see it going away in the future.
