Who are the best (and worst) dog villagers and why? 🐕

Booker is the best dog in the series, but...since he's not a villager I voted for Lucky and Portia. Lucky has a really cool mummy theme, so of course that makes him awesome. Portia was in one of my towns for a little while and I really liked her a lot. She's not one of my favorite villagers, but she's pretty cool.

My fav is Maddie! She's the only villager I have right now that I never planned on having but I just fell in love with her the moment I saw her on an island.

I feel like I keep voting in these and I keep saying the same thing as in I don’t think there are any bad types of these villagers LOL. But I do have a favorite dog by a landslide and that is lucky he is just so cute and I got him on my island kind of early on after I restarted and he is not going anywhere. I also like Portia Because she’s a Dalmatian and dalmatians are my favorite type of dog. I also like Marcel and bones, and Daisy and Goldie and walker and all of them lol
There are a lot of great dogs in the game honestly, but my favorite is a tie between Cherry and Butch. I love the Gothic design and style in real life, so I think that drew me to Cherry. I'm not too crazy about most of the sisterly villagers because some of them can be unnecessarily rude, but Cherry is really sweet and always looking out for you. I also like how she talks about the days where she was wild and rebellious, I know that is general sisterly dialogue but it fits her so well. She also has an amazing singing voice. I've had a soft spot for Butch since NL. He was a forced villager for me in that game, but he grew on me quickly. He is so sweet for a cranky, and even though he has the usual cranky dialogue you can tell that he is a big old softie at heart. I also find his love for Western things and Racecars interesting, its always nice when a villager has distinctive interests.
My least favorite is Marcel. I know he is supposed to be a mime, but his look is just weird and kinda creepy.

Dog villagers are wonderful! I love that their ears flop about as they turn their heads 
makes me wish they could also wag their tails siiigh
Favorite pups include Shep, Bones, Goldie, Benjamin (he looks like a stray and I just want to pet him...) Cookie, Mac (omg yes Mac! I love his scrunched-up pug face!) and Bea~
Least favorites: Biskit (soulless eyes. Is he supposed to be a plush toy? That's one plushie I'd gladly stay away from) Marcel and Cherry (oh god no, not Cherry... she looks like a wannabe high school tough girl, and the side mouth is not doing her any favors, either...)

Most of them are really cute! Firstly I love Lucky because of his little hidden face and I hope to meet him one day on a mystery island! Benjamin, Biskit and Marcel, some people find them creepy or ugly but in my opinion they're special but cute and all lazy which is a good personality for dog villagers I think haha
Less favourite is Cherry. I'm sorry, I know a lot of people like her so much but it's not my case

I’m not really a fan of any of the dog villagers but I feel like this is an appropriate place to tell the story of Shep, my least favorite dog villager.
I was like 11, playing NL, and randomly decided that Shep was going to be my mayor’s “boyfriend.” Did the typical sending of letters, giving him strange catchphrases/nicknames for me, etc... then one day I popped into his house and found him hanging out with Ankha, aka “cheating” on my villager. I got so angry at him, stormed out, and time traveled until he left my town. Ever since that incident, I’ve always hated him.

I don't particularly love dogs in general, but there are some pretty good dog villagers. I've only had Cherry and Goldie, myself, and they're both perfectly acceptable. Portia is my favorite, though... I think she's a fantastic snooty villager, and I love her catchphrase of 'ruffian'!
My least favorite is definitely Cookie. I find the overly cutesy villager designs to be very unappealing.

Shep. Sometimes dogs can look a little top-heavy with that giant head to me, but the extra fluff on his makes it's big size make sense. I mean, I don't dislike dog villagers, but they aren't my top favorite. But Shep is a top smug of mine- just below Raymond. Also, when he's surprised, his fluffy bangs part and you can see a cute little eye ☺ Mac is also a cutie, I love his little smushy face!
As for worst... I'm not big on Marcel. I get the theme, I just don't really care much for it, and I dislike his coloring. That shade of green is just... unpleasant to me. Other then that, I'd honestly be cool with any of the dogs on my island. I don't love 'em, but I don't hate 'em. They're... fine.

Despite being a dog lover in real life and having a...neutral at best view of cats, I really love the cat villagers and dislike most of the dogs.
I like Cherry a lot, shes got a punk style, an awesome house, and one of the few cute Sisterly types in my view. Lucky and Bones are the only other ones that I think are really cute, and Bones has an awesome house. Biscuit is kinda endearing in a way, I suppose.

Dogs! Now here I've got opiiiniooons~ I'm a fan of the dogs, both irl and in-game. So least- to most-favorite...
So...I don't like Lucky very much. I know he's popular, and I can appreciate that his design is unique, but the bandages just make me uncomfortable. I always think he's been hit by a car (that name...) or is dead(?). So to me it's discomfiting. Biskit I dislike both because the blank eyes and clashing colors just don't appeal to me...and because he shares his name with my own dog who recently passed away, and the memory of her is still too painful to think about.
Benjamin just has a lot going on, design-wise. White ears and whiskers, red mouth and eyes, upturned nose, bushy black eyebrows, any of these on their own would be interesting, but all together are a bit too much. I like his bushy brows though! Bones is fine, and I tend to like the more realistic looking animals, but idk he just doesn't make much of an impression on me. Daisy is fine too, but in a similar vein she just hasn't made an impression on me and her eye type isn't my favorite. Walker I do like, but he's a little plain. I've had him in a town previously, and enjoyed having him there, but he's just kindof a cute generic doggie (which is fine, but personally I like a little wabi-sabi in my villagers).
Bea is cute, I like her freckles and chill expression, but again she's not the most interesting-looking. And her name also reminds me a bit too much of my own dog (a nickname I called her frequently). I like Portia's unique spots, and I actually like the expression of her face more as I look at it...I don't have much to do with snooties, but Portia is cool. Marcel is interesting, I kindof dig the old timey clown/mime thing, but it's a niche that doesn't particularly fit in my towns or islands.
Cookie is cute! Very cute. If I didn't like other villagers (and other dogs) more, she'd be higher up the list. Cherry has a vibe I can appreciate, and while her color and design is a little bold I like how unique she looks. Goldie is adorable and sweet, but like Cookie I just have others I enjoy more. Butch is cute, he's a rottweiler what's not to like?
And finally my personal favorites! Shep has a classy design with a uniquely shaggy look. He's both a realistic-looking sheepdog and puts one in mind of a beardy hipster, both wins in my book. Maddie (oh Maddie! Why aren't you a poll option?) is another realistic dog and just the right amount of cute and distinctive. She's a current resident of my island and I love her *so* much! She wears the peppy personality very well, and her zoomies across the plaza make me happy. Her previous player gave her a mish-mash of clashing clothing items, but somehow that just makes her stand out to me more (and in a good way, lol)--she wants to be a pop star, and I do believe she'd make it if she didn't have such unfortunate fashion sense. Poor Maddie! Mac is another current resident, and one of my starting villagers. He's that same perfect mix of realistic and distinct--a recognizable boxer or mastiff type of dog, but that furrowed brow and big doggy smile make him unique even among the other species of villagers. He's also got freckles...kindof. And he fits the jock personality well as an active, energetic dog.
That's all of them I believe...but a final shoutout to all the 'special characters' who belong to the dog species! To the three currently in New Horizons (Isabelle, KK, and Harvey), and the five present in other games (Booker, Copper, Digby, Harriet, and Serena), cheers! Dogs really are the best~

She seems like she'd be a great older sister and I imagine her to be tough and to stand up for people when they need it.

Damn, Maddie took a hard fall between NL and NH. I remember her being one of the more sought after villagers in Welcome Amiibo, but now she seems to be one of the least sought after villager in her species. Bones see to be the opposite case as I remember him being lower tier in NL, but he is actually winning this poll now. Those 2, along with Biskit and Walker are definitely my favorites.
I don’t really have a least favorite dog, but if I had to pick one, I would say Bea is probably the worst. I think Megumi would have been a better choice to bring into Welcome Amiibo as I don’t care for Bea’s design too much.

I have to vote for Goldie as she is adorable 
I have her amibo so plan on having here in my island soon. She also is special as she reminds me of my furry niece (aka sisters doggie )
I have been thinking about Bones a lot too recently
Met him on a friend’s island and didn’t honestly realise how adorable he is. If I met him island hopping he is coming home to Bayside

I love cherry, bones and daisy. Daisy is adorable and I love her design. I also love cherry purely because I have a greyhound called cherry so it fits.

My favorite dog villager is Goldie. She just reminds of a past dog.

My all-time favourite is Cookie. She will always be number one for me. I have had her in New Leaf and in New Horizons. She's such a precious girl.
I also voted Goldie, Daisy and Shep as my other favourites. They all come in close second to Cookie. It was really hard to not pick more than four honestly.
