i've seen some people's retails are lower and ive never actually considered having it there :0ccc i feel like it would take along time to transfer things but idk i haven't thought about it that much. personally it makes me more comfortable to have it near the top.

I prefer it near the top b/c the only real reason to have it at the bottom of the map is if you do a lot of island runs for bells, and i don't visit the island much anymore.
but unless your house is near the bottom too its also pretty inconvenient trying to sell stuff in your storage.
also near the top is much easier for trades b/c there's no worry about anyone trampling through your town

Mine's at the corner of the top of my map, near my train station. I sometimes found it inconvenient when beetle farming (it's as far from the dock as it can possibly get lol) but I actually really like having it there, especially when I'm doing big trades with other people. It looks kinda weird to me now when I visit other towns and Re-Tail is just smack in the middle of town. =P

I have a really convenient vertical line down the center of my town. It goes: Train station, Re-Tail, my mayor's house and then the dock to the island :3

Close to the train station yet out of the way would be my preferred retail location.
My retail is pretty close to the train station, but it's surrounded by ponds and I put my cafe in a dumb spot, kind of blocking the line... When I first started my town I had no clue about layout and had no intentions of landscaping, but now when I've got ideas and am laying down paths, those bad decisions have come back to bite me
But I love my town too much to reset.
My dream would be to somehow obtain a second town and just reset for days & days to get the absolute perfect map and perfect placement, like WonderK's immaculate town.
