Oh, now is a good time! Also, if your tree is big enough and you sit on the bricks in front of it, it'll give you a sort of "town credits". At the end it will tell you how many visitors you've had! A good way to tell if it's big enough that I've seen is to check if the trunk is dark brown and/or has moss.
