* Skip to the bottom of the page for a bolded TLDR. Requesting guidance, half rant.
As I'm writing this, I'm freaking out. My 2DS and games had been lost multiple times (not by me) leading to quite some years of me not having been able to play. Regretfully, I even missed the time period before internet functions were dropped from ACNL. I was super happy to at least finally get to play again, but little did I know that my comfort game was soon to turn into a disaster. My town had long been completely finished, set with QR codes, flowers, and work projects. Nearly everything and anything had been accounted for. My dream villagers were all in their designated spots: Fang, Zell, Lopez, Whitney, Felicity, Beau, Lolly, Rudd, Diana. I believe I had only 9 out of 10 possible.
It started off with me hearing from other villagers that Lopez wanted to move out, I was shocked and went to talk to Lopez but I had forgotten that the first day of the rumors would not lead to the discussion of him wanting to move out... So I did not pursue the topic, trusting that since most of my current villagers hadn't moved for 6+ years already, it'd be fine. I had kept the days the same as the current time and year, but a letter from Lopez through my mailbox informed me that "by the time you read this, I'll be long, long gone." I felt blindsided... Lopez and Zell were a package deal for my town, they were best friends as well. Without internet connection, I guessed that the next villager be left up to complete lottery as I wouldn't be able to get a Lopez from contacting others outside of local play anymore. But it'd be fine, right? I had two specifically mapped areas for houses to move into, one was the empty plot of where Lopez's house used to be. The villagers had been moving correctly into these mapped areas for 7+ years now.
I did some work around my house after accidentally digging up a bush. I decided to re-plant some trees, cut a few down, etc. Imagine how shattering it was to run past my mayor's house while going to check the exterior of my secondary human villager's house only to see that a NEW VILLAGER was planning to move into the very small space between my mayor's house and the secondary villager's house! It completely destroyed the layout and forest I had lovingly set up with the help of landscape hacking from others over 7-8 years ago! The most important entryway to my house that I can no longer replicate within ACNL's boundaries as my 2DS itself is not hacked or modded, gone! And to Canberra, of all villagers to move in, Canberra?!
Someone please help me understand why the game chose to move them right underneath my house when I already have two perfectly set plots of land that were both dug up free of any fossils, with only flowers left growing? Is it because I wiped away a few QR codes (maybe only 4 at most) on the ground while cleaning up the forested shrub area around my house in the process? I can't wrap my head around it! While I know I can no longer fix it nor force Canberra to move out, I would love any help or feedback on why this occured, so I can stop a villager from moving in front of my house once more... Or anywhere in general where they should not be moving in. This hasn't happened in a million years. I'm thinking I might need to bite the bullet and erect a random public works project below my house after or if the villager moves out, if that's what it takes. I'm very sad that the landscaping was completely wiped. I can't plant them side by side anymore. The public works projects I already had existing on the map were quite spaced out evenly besides the two empty plots of land so I assume that's why the game picked such a horrible spot to place the incoming move in, but again, hasn't happened until now.
I have so much trauma from this event that I'm thinking I should just completely stop playing ACNL cold turkey for the time being to forget about ugly Canberra (I only have deers, cats, and wolves!) moving in and ruining my beloved town layout. When there were already TWO empty spots for Canberra to move in... I don't want to start up my game, stand in front of my door, and see her house blocking the view. Menacing self walking about. Dramatic, I'm fully aware, but this is a nightmare for me. Sigh. The mayor's house is unmoveable, right next to the station. If another villager moves in elsewhere important too, I think I'll lose my head. Fully. I haven't played ACNH since its launch, maybe it's time to give it another try in the meantime... Even though ACNL is the best, in my opinion.
TLDR: How do you stop villagers from moving into random spots/in front of your house, even in a almost fully QR town with areas that are already made for incoming villagers? Any methods? (Related: How do you get a hated villager to move out? Is there still a way to receive dream villagers and landscaping without modding your own console at this point, without online functions?) Please help.
