This Guy Must Have Issues

Seems like gaming's found its Jonathan Lee Riches - the inmate who sues anyone and anything, largely for comedic effect. In this case, Erik Estavillo, who already had a suit against Sony tossed, has taken aim at Microsoft and Nintendo.

Estavillo's suing Microsoft for an RROD on his 360, claiming that a disability means he can afford neither a new console nor a "well over $100 fee to fix it." He's looking for $75,000 on that complaint, because of the "undue stress" he's suffered since the machine's failure, plus the "sadness he will have in the mean time of finding one he can afford." Allllllllright. Next.

Nintendo of America isn't so holy in this either. Estavillo complains that a Wii firmware update disabled his homebrew channel. Basically, he's *censored.4.1* that it prevents him from unlocking a character in Super Mario Galaxy and for that he wants $5,000 for obstructing his "pursuit of happiness."

In his suit Estavillo says he depends on games for his emotional well being because he suffers from depression, OCD, panic disorder, Crohn's disease and agoraphobia, the latter of which you might recall was his basis for suing Sony after it banned him for being a *censored.1.1* on PSN. A judge threw out that lawsuit, a judgment which he has appealed. There's obviously no stopping this guy.

Suing Sony, getting that denied only to try and get it appealed, then trying to sue Microsoft and Nintendo too? Guy must be on something, could use some help.

I read about this on another site.

Only in that article, it said he used Homebrew to unlock Rosalina on Mario Kart, reformatted his wii, then couldn't unlock her again after the update. He then said that Nintendo were forcing people to buy SMG to unlock her, despite the fact there are other ways to unlock Rosalina.

Has he finally given up? =p That guy was nuts, I feel bad for his son. He pretty much blamed all video games for being violent and damaging to childrens minds simply because there's some violent games out there. There's already the Electronic Software Rating Board for that. Instead of being an idiot like he has been, he should try working to make sure the ESRB system is improved and better enforced. I know most companies (stores) don't really care what age you are when you buy a game. XP

But yeah, this is the kind of thing our taxes pay for and what our judicial system is cluttered up with. It'd be nice if they brought that old law back where if you made a lawsuit and lost, you had to cover your opponent's lawyer fees. =P
