I started to watch One Piece again! It takes me forever to get around to watching something. Most people I know binge through a full show in a day or week, but I can't do that without feeling burnout. I just finished the cake island arc and am now starting the Wano arc. So far I've been enjoying it all. I've been sticking to the dub since it's what I started with way back in 2008 when they first started to dub the Skypeia arc and then jumped all the way to the 1st season. It's crazy to think that's almost 17 years ago lol.
Still enjoying Grand Blue S2!
Since it’s a gag anime I thought I could jump right into it, but it relies more on the background of the characters than I realized and my husband had to keep explaining things. So we rewatched S1, and not only was that fun but I can enjoy S2 now!
We also watched the Conan movie the Fist of the Blue Sapphire recently. The movies are leaving Netflix 8/31 so trying to catch the ones we really want to see. That one took place at the Marina Bay Sands which we stayed at recently so it was cool seeing places we were at. The movie itself was just fine haha
I watched the 2nd Mononoke movie, Ashes Of Rage. It's somewhat related to the first movie (Phantom In The Rain), although you could watch it alone. Personally I thought the first movie had a more interesting story, but I enjoyed this one too. I can't get enough of this beautiful animation. I definitely recommend these movies if you like the original series or horror/fantasy stuff in general, or are interested in the unique art style. The 3rd movie comes out next year.

I would say the movies can be enjoyed without watching the series first, since they're not a direct continuation of it. They have the same main character and similar story concepts, but that's about it. So it's really up to you which one you'd like to watch first. If this interests you, I would recommend watching them all at some point. The Mononoke series consists of 5 self contained stories. Kusuriuri/Medicine Seller was first introduced in the last few episodes of Ayakashi. Personally I enjoyed Mononoke more than Ayakashi. I like to think that all these different stories take place on the same continuous timeline, although I'm not sure if that's been confirmed.
I know this is geared to anime, but I wouldn't consider Bob's Burgers lowbrow. I agree with Rick and Morty especially later seasons. Bob's Burgers started off crude in season 1 and maybe earlier seasons, but then they noticed their show was watched by families and rewrote their show towards making it more kid-friendly and wholesome. It's a good show about a family that actually cares about each other which is so refreshing after so many shows that stuck to the Family Guy formula of having deplorable abusive family members for a cheap joke. Rick and Morty is extremely guilty of this and is almost unwatchable with some of the episodes.
I'm really excited for the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle trilogy to be released c:
I am all caught up on the anime for now. I will be cosplaying Mitsuri to the premiere and I'm sooo looking forward to it !! I even bought a new wig (pre-styled), so I can really go all out hehe.
So.. I went to the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle premiere on the 11th!
The movie was extremely great. The music, the animation, even the story was perfectly portrayed within 2 hours and 30-ish minutes? I'm looking forward to the next 2 movies of this arc! As I mentioned in my previous post, I DID cosplay as Mitsuri to the premiere. My sister, @Azzy also joined me! ^_^ She wore a Tanjiro inspired outfit. We looked amazing!
For now, I'm catching up on some animes I've been meaning to watch. Currently, I am watching Food Wars! The Second Plate. I completed the entire manga years ago. But now, I figured I'd finally give the anime a shot after only watching the first season when I was 15 ^^
The anime is definitely silly, specifically the dubbed version. However, it brings me back to my teenage years. Very enjoyable for me, however, if you're not into the lewd-ish themes at some points in the anime, along with how low effort the dub seems.. probably not a good watch for y'all. However, the story is good to me. I enjoy it and my favorite part about the manga was how they had recipes in every volume. I'll eventually have to make some of the stuff displayed in the manga recipes xD
I'm on Episode 7 of the second season, right after the food war between Souma Yukihira and Subaru Mimasaka. The episode previously was so suspenseful to me. There was so much happening, I wasn't sure who would win! Now, I get to watch Hayama Akira face Ryo Kurokiba :3
I actually watched all of the old Hunter x Hunter on youtube, even the ovas. Starting the newer series is making me wonder why they skipped or changed some things
I restarted Kakuriyo - Bed and Breakfast for Spirits because I resubscribed to Crunchyroll today and saw there’s a second season coming out October 1st and I am so excited!!

I'm wondering why the new Hunter x Hunter show got rid of some important set up things in the beginning, then included a recap episode full of clips so early on with episode 14.

It was episode 13 with the recap. I noticed they cut another section out of the hunter exam with the reboot. Originally those 2 sections contrasted very well with everyone working together to get off an island to avoid a natural disaster. Then pitting everyone against each other. It's interesting to see what they got rid of. I'm baffled as to why, aside from probably only getting a certain amount of episodes to work with.

I'm reading the removal of content in the newer one is partially to be more accurate to the manga? I do miss the slower and more detailed pacing of the older show. The non manga filler didn't feel like filler.
I don't think there was ever an arc I really disliked in One Piece. They all were enjoyable to me. Even the fillers were great and had interesting plots. The one filler where Condoriano is from was my favorite filler. I feel like it could've been canon and there wouldn't had been any issues. It was pretty good!

Same I've been watching the anime for years. I haven't read the manga though. The Egghead arc has been getting intense! So much is happening, it's been one of the more exciting parts of the series for me so far. I'm also interested in how the later seasons of the live action series will be adapted, that's coming out later this year and I thought the first season turned out to be pretty good.
