Poll:What age is appropriate for a cell phone?

one of my biggest pet peeves is people who text while out for a meal... not like chillin at a fast food joint or something, but like a nice sit down restaurant... parents obviously did not teach their kids well... and then you look over it and see people in their upper20s doing it at the table next to you. why do you go out to dinner with friends/family/whoever if you're not gonna spend the time with em?
agreed, thats why a phone should be given to a mature person,
that way they learn to limit thier phone time

yuppp, i think the earlier they start, the more irresponsible they'll be with it when they grow up since they'll form bad habits

I can't do that even at the dinner table at our own house... O_o

well ive had one since i was 10 and im 12 now it gives you freedom and fun lol
plus what if there was an emegency they can phone their parents

Mehhh. I don't care what age they are when they get a cell phone. Some parents just want to make sure their kids are safe when they aren't around.

it also depends on the person
don't give a cellphone to a junky who will make the phone bill high

Why else would people need a phone below that age.
what if there was an emegency they can phone their parents or the police or aambulance or the fire bragade
That's what pay-phones are for hun. XD Not to mention most of them wouldn't use their phones for those reasons anyway.

Why in the world would a ten year old be prancing around town or something that would give them a cause for a cellphone?

agreed,
young kids have to ask permission to go somehwere and there parents know when to pick em up, so there is no need for a cellphone

Well, I got my first cell phone at age 9, but I think it's better for kids to get their cell phone when they're 11 and up. (:

until my kid knows what 100 bucks a month is, i sure as hell am not spending that for them to have a phone ;)
