I want to talk about my favourite movie: Kiki’s delivery service 🌸

There really isn’t any other movie that fills me with so much joy and warmth, but also melancholia. I adore the colours and the breathtaking shots, the music and the story. More and more I gravitate towards wholesome slice-of-life media as I just can’t deal with more violence and drama - there’s enough of that on the daily news.

Whenever I feel down, upset or unwell in general or if I just want to be completely happy and immersed for a while, that’s when I play this movie, wrapped im a warm blanket.

I could pause the movie at any given moment and would have a perfect screensaver right there! Even the fish look aesthetically pleasing. From an artistic point of view I admire and adore ghibli movies so much. There are many scenes I’d like to paint one day.

I hope some people who haven’t seen Kiki yet because they thought it’s boring or for kids will give it a go nevertheless :3 it fills me with warmth and fuzzies.

I have chosen my favourite song which is “Just Like Heaven” by The Cure

I first discovered this song on accident when I was 15 over 10 years ago now. I remember being at school and we had quiet time for the last period of the day. So I was just listening to some music on YouTube and I saw it as a recommended so I thought I listen to it. It was the most romantic, beautiful, calming, gothic song I had ever heard. Every since then I discovered more of the band and the lovely voice or Robert Smith but “Just Like Heaven” was my number 1 . It wasn’t till years later when I was dating my boyfriend at the time my now husband that I told him this was my favourite song of all time. Then a few years later my husband takes me on a beautiful cruise boat and hires a band to play me that song while he got on one knee to propose.

The movie I’m going to speak about is the Wizard of Oz, when I was real young it was all about the songs and singing and dancing. As you get older you realise the story behind it and don’t we all just ‘want to get back home’ (honestly my favourite place is bed😂). Even now I bring up this film and people haven’t seen it and it genuinely baffles me! I dressed as Dorothy for parties and THOSE red shoes that everybody wanted my gosh I used to look in every clothes shop we went into. Can we just add how beautiful was Judy Garland💕

Another thing linked to this which is something I’ll never forget is that when I was around 8 mum took us to a church summer fatê (raffles/games/Etc) there was a raffle for the wizard of oz monopoly, we didn’t have much money as mum was a single mum and our dad wasn’t involved. I asked if I could buy a ticket and she gave me money for 1 single ticket and I said oh I’ll never win and she said you might, that 1 ticket might get you it.. and she was right, I won with 1 ticket, I’ve never felt as much of a winner as I did that day. (Fair to say I never let anyone play as Dorothy’s shoes as that was my token😂)

I’ve added a photo of the wizard of oz monopoly!

Also thanks for doing this giveaway - so so kind fish 🐠💙

I wanted to write about one of my all time favourite books, Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. My mother was the first one in our family who loved and devoured every book in this delightful Canadian classic series and then next, so did I. In turn, my daughter has followed suit. Anne of Green Gables introduced us to our heroine Anne (with an E mind you!) who was an orphan in the maritime province of PEI She was adopted onto a picturesque rural farm named Green Gables and the fictional account relates in delightful detail her life as a young girl through to womanhood.
As I read about her, I laughed with her, cried with her, despaired with her over her freckles and heartbreaks, her over the top imagination, her misadventures and I absolutely know that this novel fired my own imagination and creativity and I truly believe that I am the richer for it. I think that a good book should weave you into its story, it should leave you wanting more and should invite you to read and reread for the pure and simple pleasure of it. Anne of Green Gables did all of that for me. If you haven’t yet read the book, I warmly encourage you to do so.

hoo boy. i have so many favourite songs that choosing just one to talk about was next to impossible lol, but i finally settled on one - “hero” by faouzia.

faouzia is slowly becoming one of my favourite artists (her music is fantastic!), but “hero” is especially special to me because i discovered it on august 6th, aka the last good day i would have for a long time. my mom and i were in the car on our way to go get something to eat after seeing the suicide squad in theatres, a movie i had been anticipating the entire year (and loved). i wasn’t expecting to see it in theatres with the ongoing pandemic, so it was an amazing surprise when my mom asked if i wanted to go see it on release day.

i was so at peace when i first heard “hero”. i had just seen the movie i waited all year for, i was clutching the fox plushie i had bought at the theatre afterwards, and i was going on a nighttime drive (one of my favourite things) to go get food. life was so much simpler and happier then, especially on that day, and so “hero” is special to me because it reminds me of an amazing day and of better times, and it’s one of my favourite songs because it’s an absolute bop. 💗

thank you for hosting this giveaway! to show my gratitude, i thought i would let you know that i had fish for dinner tuesday night and that it was pretty yummy, which was surprising because 1) i don’t really like fish and 2) it was hospital food lmao.

also, sorry that i wrote 2 small paragraphs instead of 1. i’m bad at summarizing and paragraph structuring. so i thought 2 small paragraphs would be better than 1 large one. 💀

Wow, what a giveaway. 😳
Thank you for doing this! 💕

So.. I'd like to talk about my favorite movie. It's "The Polar Express". It's a christmas movie from 2004. I remember how excited me and my mother were, when it came on DVD and we'd watch it all together a week before christmas. Me, my brother and my parents. It is one of the coziest and best memories I have from my childhood. Every single year we'd watch it and it would never get boring. So.. the movie is about a fish.. uuh boy that doesn't believe in Santa. He eventually hears something when he can't fall asleep and wants to check whats going on. Suddenly there is a train, better known as "Polar Express" in front of his house! After not wanting to go on it at first, thinking it's a dream anyways" he ends up chasing after it and eventually going on bord. There are a few other kids that also don't believe in Santa for various reasons. Some are just not believing, others are from poor families and never had a present for christmas. As the title suggests, the train goes to the north pole to meet Santa. The trainride is long and a lot of things are happening, including almost breaking into a giant lake and meeting a ghost on the roof. Once arrived the boy and his newly made group of friends exit the train late and get lost in Santas town. They somehow end up in the giant bag full of presents from Mr. Santa and luckily get noticed just before departure of the sled. The boy notices though that one of the reindeers has lost one of their bells and gives it to Santa. In the end they all go back home and on christmas morning the boy gets the bell from Santa as a present. The movie is so well made and even has some rather scary aspects to it. It makes me wish that my little girl will be believing in Santa for a long time and that she will like the movie aswell so I can keep the tradition going. 🥰

When I was a kid, I would watch all of the Lord of the Rings films with my dad, and I guess the story, and the fantasy genre in general, grew on me. I don’t really like watching film adaptations of novels I like (because I don’t want to lose the visual aspect I had imagined), but I’m really glad that as an adult I read The Hobbit before ever seeing the films!* The Hobbit novel was so immersive and easy to want to read. The author’s descriptions allowed me to imagine something really unique. It really was an adventure story. So, it’s not a particularly unique choice, but no matter how many (fiction) books I read, none have been more enjoyable than The Hobbit (yet), and therefore it’s my clear favourite!

I’ve included a picture of my copy of The Hobbit. I love hard cover books with dust jackets. I particularly like this copy because of the art, and it also has a map on the inside covers. ❤️

*Footnote: I believe the movies are truly awful, only because they are so unfaithful to the entire story.

My favourite film is Antiviral, a sci-fi body horror directed by Brandon Cronenberg. It is set in a world where there is a market for becoming infected with live pathogens harvested from famous people. It gives a sense of intimacy to the spread of disease, in that people feel closer to their favourite celebrities by having a pathogen injected into their body that was once inside of someone they idolise. In the opening of the film, a man is being injected with a herpes sample taken from a woman named Hannah Geist. When asked which side of his mouth he wants it to be injected on he is unsure, so the protagonist, Syd (played by Caleb Landry Jones), tells him that Hannah's infection is on the right side of her mouth, so if she kissed him he would be infected on the left side. So the patient asks for it on the left. Does that sound strange? To put that into context for the current time: how would you feel if you caught COVID-19 from your favourite celebrity kissing you? I work with infectious pathogens in real life, so I found this way of looking at the spread of disease very interesting.

Aw, alright but I definitely liked your entry

my favorite song is hug by seventeen! i discovered it a little over a year ago when it would come up on random playlists on spotify. i wasn't a fan of the group yet, but i still liked listening to it whenever i heard it. it was the song that made me curious about their other songs, so i checked out their other songs and long story short, became a fan. the song itself is very calming and healing. the person who made the song says that the lyrics are simple, everyday phrases, but when you listen to the song, it feels like you're getting a warm hug. i couldn't agree more. i've listened to this song on the most stressful of days and it's definitely helped me out a lot. ♥️

thank you for the giveaway! i like fish 🐟

highkey had a hard time coming up w a response for this but I think I got something :3

this might sound a bit crazy because it's so recent but I would say my favorite movie (or at least one of my all-time favorites) is Encanto. I went into this thinking to was gonna be another cutesy Disney film with lots of entertaining stuff and maybe a few thought-provoking moments sprinkled in, maybe a few forced romances too. but oh no, this movie Encanto stomped right into my home and wacked me right in the heart (idk how else to describe the feeling lol).

basically this movie hits so close to home for me. everyone in the family has a gift and Alma starts using her family's gifts to make them look glamorous and special, and she places incredibly high expectations on her gifted family members. then Mirabel comes along and she doesn't have a "gift" so Alma kinda casts her off to the side. apparently she only sees worth in someone if they have some kind of "gift" they can give to the world, and even if someone is gifted but they don't share it they're not good enough. the family's magic starts to drift away because of this, and by the end once the house crumbles, Alma learns that she was wrong to put such high expectations (and stress) on everyone and she's ashamed of herself.

this movie is like a huge mirror into my own life. I was born a gifted child, I have a natural talent for music and I have perfect pitch. my dad wanted the best for me but he also exploited my "gift" and he got angry/frustrated when I didn't want to do something with it that he wanted me to do (much like Alma in Encanto). besides the gorgeous visual effects and fantastic music in this movie, it honestly almost made me cry (I never cry when watching movies so that was wild) bc I could relate to characters like Luisa and Isabela, who just wanted to be themselves and not be defined and confined by their "gift". the movie, I believe, shows that it's okay to be normal, and just being who you are as a person is enough for this world. I've never resonated with a movie as closely as I have with Encanto, and I absolutely adore it for that reason.

sorry for the long winded post friendo, hopefully it's not too much to read lol. have a wonderfully fishy day! 💞 🐟

I decided to pick a movie I enjoyed watching when I was younger called Anastasia (1997). I haven't watched it in awhile now but it brings back memories of being a kid. The movie is about an orphaned girl who doesn't know she was a princess who got lost at birth. I won't say anymore so I don't spoil anything but there are lots of songs. I used to think it was a Disney movie because of the princess theme but it's actually not. I remember my favourite song being "Once upon a December". I used to listen to it over and over. Up until recently I even had a rabbit named Anastasia.

Thanks for this giveaway. The prized are pretty hefty so I'm surprised there aren't more replies. Oh and fish & chips.

Thanks for this awesome, fishy giveaway! 🐟 I would love to enter!

My favorite song is "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson. She's been one of my favorite artists since high school, and I always felt like I could relate to her music. This song in particular is one that my wife and I have now deemed "our song." It's a song that I would sing to her often when we were dating, and it's the song that we danced to as the first dance at our wedding. 💕

if i had to pick a favourite movie of all time, i'd have to go with pulp fiction. i am a huge fan of all of quentin tarantinos works but i strongly feel that this movie is his masterpiece. everything about the movie is executed to perfection from the dialogue to the pacing to the action, and all of the leads give very strong performances.

i really love how each chapter has its own independent arc yet fits cohesively with the rest of the film, and them being presented out of order gives plenty of rewatch value. these arcs are strong enough that they would hold up well as their own short films. i found the characters and their storylines to be investing, and their conclusions satisfying.

ever since i first watched pulp fiction years ago i've continuously found myself coming back to rewatch it many times, and i am still able to fish out new things i never noticed before. it's a guilty pleasure film of sorts for me, i usually watch it whenever i'm feeling anxious and it helps me cool down pretty quickly, its just one of those movies you can put on, sit back, relax and enjoy. if you haven't watched it yet i highly recommend it, you would be doing yourself a service, its a classic.

Thanks for hosting this very generous giveaway! ^^ I like the fish-y collectibles (:

My favourite song ever is probably Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. I first discovered it while watching Wayne's World at a friend's sleepover party. The song really stuck in my mind after watching that iconic scene of them in the car headbanging to Bohemian Rhapsody. I had a vague idea of the song and who Queen were. After that day, I Googled who Queen were and fell in love with their music. I've loved their music ever since, and Bohemian Rhapsody has always been my favourite song of theirs. And it was a pretty memorable night with my friends :3
