The Nintendo Switch Lite is out today! I didn't get one, but if you did, is it worth getting, what are the coolest features, and what color did you get?

Hey that's great news! I haven't gotten one yet. Hopefully they won't be sold out by the time I try buying one, as my luck usually has it. :)

I plan on getting one on Sunday, I've read that they're sturdier, feel better, and their screens smudge less.

Didn’t get one as I got a regular Nintendo Switch during the summer and have loved it ever since (and for only $12 out of pocket too thanks to everything I traded in). Wouldn’t make much sense for me to get a Switch Lite right now as I haven’t had my regular Switch for too long like some people here have.

Who knows, maybe I’ll pick one up in the future though. :)

I can't tell you until tomorrow. I was supposed to do an unboxing video but my cameraman canceled at the last minute. So I Won't be opening my system until my friend can come over tomorrow...after 8 pm EST no less...and use my phone to film the unboxing for me. But I will say if you plan to use your Switch in handheld mode only then Switch Lite is probably the way to go since it's $100 cheaper then the OG system.

So things like "How will I use my Switch?" are questions you need to ask when choosing between the Lite and the OG.

I honestly don't have any need for one, but damn I want one just for that crisp yellow design.

won't be getting mine until next year at the earliest most likely, but I am interested to hear peoples thoughts on

which previous system/controller is the d-pad most comparable to?

It looks like a Nintendo 64 D-pad to me (or a GameCube one).

I will not getting a Lite because I already own a regular Switch, but the turquoise one looks pretty. So
far, people seem to enjoy the Lite, at least I saw lots of positive feedback for it online yesterday on it's
release day.

The color options are really cool, but if I replace my Switch in the future I'd wait for the possible XL version.

I've got a Switch already, this isn't for me.

I guess the extended battery would be convenient given I mostly play in handheld anyway and the Switch battery life is garbage, but that's a lot of money just for some more battery life...Especially since I do sometimes play on the TV and transferring data between Switch's, in typical Nintendo fashion, is inconvenient.

I'm hoping for some sort of upgraded model instead. I know the newer Switch models have a longer battery life which is tempting, but I'm waiting till New Horizons is out before I go down that route in case they release an actual upgrade like an XL or 'new' or something. I'll be giving my girlfriend my old one anyway since she wants the new Animal Crossing, I want more battery life, so even then the lite isn't appealing.

I've also heard that the tendency for joycon drift issues hasn't been sorted at all with these, which it really should have done given you can't just replace the controllers or just send the broken Joycon off with them being fixed to the system. As somebody who in 20+ years of gaming has only ever had to replace one controller and that controller was a Joycon, I don't trust this. Would have to send the whole system for repairs.

I would say it's good for people who don't own a Switch yet and probably won't play on a TV given its lower price, but the Joycon thing even stops me saying that.

Also seems like it defeats the namesake to a degree. Was called a Switch because you can switch between home and handheld at any time...Well, this doesn't. It kind of just strengthen's my opinion I've always had: the Switch is not truly a hybrid system, it's a handheld that plugs into the TV with not much focus given to the home console aspect (such as hardware and accessories that only benefit the home console aspect, such as maybe a bit more hardware in the dock to make docked run better, or storage for the dock to make docked storage larger). If something won't work in handheld they typically won't do it, if it won't work with home console then that's fine.

I don't have a switch right now and since I think I will hardly ever play it in TV mode the Switch lite sounds perfect for me. I'm probably going to buy one next year after the prices have hopefully dropped a little. I also want to see if they are going to release any more special edition versions like the Pokemon one. The main game I want to play on it is Animal Crossing New Horizons so I still have to wait till March for that to get released anyway. Out of the colours already revealed I think I like turquoise the most. But I haven't seen them in real life and I don't know if I might like yellow more in real life.

I didn't buy one, but maybe one day I will and if I do, I would love to buy the turquoise color one. I'm more of a handheld gamer, so I would definitely love playing on this and would recommend it for anyone else who likes to play in handheld mode. :)

I got the banana yellow Switch Lite on release day.My first impression was that it's a very slick device. It's well made with a very solid feel overall. The controls are responsive and have a lighter feel compared to a New 3DS XL.The sound quality from the built in speakers is better than the average 3DS but still not all that impressive.Speaking of the New 3DS XL,the Switch Lite feels like it weighs less and feels more natural and balanced in hand because it doesn't have that top screen that makes the 3DS XL feel a bit top heavy. The touchscreen display is probably the best handheld screen I've ever seen.I was watching the last Nintendo Direct on the Lite and it looks great...even better than my computer screen.I've only played one game on the Lite so far....Doom.It looks good on the Lite but the screen is pretty much just shrunk down from the regular Switch screen and the text that appears in the game is hard to read because it's so small.I've played a lot of first person shooters and I think the controls translate fairly well to the handheld format. It's not perfect but it's certainly playable with some adjustments. However,as much as I like the Lite,I'd say that if you already have a regular Switch, then the Lite doesn't really offer anything you don't already have unless you want a more compact dedicated handheld version in a different color.

Apparently it still has joy con drift. Nintendo has done a big brain moment again.

Worst thing about this is that people now have to send in their whole console to get it fixed instead of
the single Joy-Con that has the issue. After all, as nice as the Switch Lite may be, this fact sucks the
most.

I'm going to get one later on but I'm really attracted to the yellow one!
That is if I get impatient and can't save for a flagship switch instead.
I love when Nintendo releases yellow consoles, albeit usually limited editions but it's nice they have a yellow one as a permanent color for switch lite. It just really catches my eye. <3

Oh man I was ready to get it until I learned about the Drifting issues still carrying over. :(

I know a potential solution is to blow under the sticks to push away any dust, but it still makes me unsure about it....
Maybe I will get a normal Switch first and then I will get the Switch Lite after that if these issues are addressed by Nintendo. :o
