Nintendo Switch 2 Direct kicks off at 9:00 (EST), 6:00 (PT), 15:00 (CET) on April 2, 2025

I personally wouldn't want an Animal Crossing game so soon. I know it came out in 2020, but it took a year and half for them to give us a final version that still felt incomplete and they held the holidays and events hostage for the first year. I don't want to see that kind of dripfeed stuff again. So I would rather them cook the game longer. I know that WW and CF were mixed bags because of issues like lack of real holidays and so on and it wasn't until NL that they hit the mark. So I wouldn't mind waiting for them to hit the mark again. NH was just too much of a mixed bag for me and I'd rather not run into a new game so quick if they're going to tread the same formula.

It would be cool to see some news about a real Donkey Kong game that isn't just a port. Mario Kart is cool and all, but it's not enough to make me run to get the system. Botw wasn't my favorite Zelda game, but it was still an amazing game for it's time with a huge world and all of its features. They need something like that to wow me and probably others again.

I have a feeling that Mario Kart 9 will be a launch title to be the big launch title that makes everyone want to get the Switch 2 on release day much like BotW. Another launch title I’m predicting is a new Super Mario game, probably something with the Rabbids given how well the games have sold.

I am honestly not sure maybe a Mario game. I usually don’t get new systems right away. I usually wait until there are a few games I want for it. I am excited to see what what we might get.

I agree with @-Blue- i think a new AC game should wait awhile. When they said updates with NH I thought that meant maybe some few items might be released like they eventually did with NL. I wasn’t expecting them to wait so long to release NPC’s and not even have the holidays. It was weird how much was still left out . I found it was a much better game after they finally released everything. So will have to wait and see what they plan to do with the next one before buying it when it does come out.

I think we may see a snippet of a brand new nintendo franchise. I also think the length of the video will indicate that Nintendo may elaborate on mouse function, voice chat, Nintendo online services and such with this system.
Since the last direct showed off games that won't launch until waay later, (Tomodachi is one example) I think it is possible they may show more things like that.

I think Mario Paint will come to the Switch Online service as a Swutch 2 exclusive. The mouse capabilities of the Joy Cons are just too perfect not to be used for a game like Mario Paint. Kirby Canvas Curse and Rainbow Curse could even be announced as a 2 in 1 port for the Switch 2 and use the mouse like features of the console. Heck even Mass Attack would work really well as a port.

Mario kart looks great .

I wonder if they're going to make a Switch Lite 2, I don't want to update to the regular one. I want my tiny device.
I wonder this as well , I would rather have a switch 2 lite.

I'm unable to watch right now but I'm also hoping for a new Nintendogs! It's been too long since the last one. I'm already so glad they're releasing Tamagotchi Plaza and a new Tomodatchi Life in the future, but I would love to have a new Nintendogs in the works.

I don't disagree that I wouldn't mind waiting for a new Animal Crossing game, as I also don't want it to be half-baked. It would maybe be nice to know if they are at least working on a new installment, even if it still has years in the making. Maybe this time they'll have their A team working on it and it won't take as long for development and we'll get a complete game. :')

I'm super happy to hear about the magnets instead of the sliding for the switch remotes, little things like that will really make a difference!

My thoughts 💭

The Mario kart game looks good. Was that a cow I saw on a vehicle? What is the cow from?
I also foresee this game getting many maps over time via updates based on the level of NOS you have. Huge map and it's world title. It is cool they went all in had have seasons and weather. As of lately, I'm still a little concerned about lag. The map or world appears open. I'm trying not to sit on the lag thing too much, as this is a new system and not the switch anymore. Good launch title though!

Im not too thrilled at the idea of the mic for the system being on the actual system. It's fine for hand held, but not for docking. Controllers should have the mic, or a headset should come out that connects wirelessly to the system.
Turns out, the c button is for chat..
The camera is nice for those who care about it.

Game share is a nice feature. Even with it being limited titles (can't expect all games to be in that).

Again, I like the magnetic method for the joycons snapping. The mouse feature will be nice for DS and 3ds when it comes to the NOS. And it will neat to see it in their future games. Other stuff shown about it was good and mostly expected. Some switch 1 games being compatible is good in both physical and digital. I am curious to know the list however.
Micro SD express cards being needed is interesting..
June 5th is a great launch date. Most kids/college peeps will be on summer break or will soon will be.
So, the switch 2 edition games are an upgrade... (This makes me think New Horizons may continue to be around for a while tbh idk, if not the next AC game in theory should be better)
Beyond it allowing chat and video, it allows mini games and features where the mouse control aspect of the joycons can be used.
The upgrade will have to be purchased. I didn't catch the price, so I'll have to look later and come back for comment on that.
This is a smart way to allow time for people to save up for the system as most people are hurting financially right now, because it allows older titles to have new life... Assuming the upgrade packs aren't too expensive for the content you get..

With the new game drag and drive, it's nice to see the diversity. 🏀🧑‍🦽

I can't lie, I was hoping to see more about Nintendo games (welp there were two at the end so there's that :) ). Ideally beyond upgrade packs or the "editions". From there it goes into 3rd party beyond a second party game. Hogwarts legacy, if that's your thing, should run better on this new system at least lol.
The lag in the Hyrule warriors age of imprisonment worries me.

GameCube comes to NOS. This is good. I wonder if they waited because of the switch's lag issue. Idk. But it is good to see it come out now, because the ds and 3ds needs to come out in the switch 2's life time. Especially if brand new switch 2 exclusive games coming out will be slow.

Nice to see silksong with a 2025 date. I can get that on steam when it comes out.

The Kirby Air ride game I would say looks good, but I think maybe Nintendo should have chosen a different remake to do.. since Mario kart world is a racing game. I also don't think it'll get many sales at first.
The Donkey Kong Bananza looks amazing and fun. I don't care for the model's style but gameplay is way more important to me personally. And it comes out in July! It will sell well I am sure!

I'll have to check prices on the system, the Mario kart bundled system and the upgrade packs and come back to comment on that.

Over all, I feel like this wasn't a bad direct. I feel like it is mid.
